Superb Burger Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Sacramento

Superb Burger Fish & Chips , 8399 Folsom Blvd., Suite No. 4, in Sacramento, had 13 violations on Tuesday (August 20, 2024).

According to Sacramento County health inspectors, an employee did not wash their hands after handling raw foods and then touched other food and utensils.

Multiple bags of meat were stored in a torn, reused bag inside an upright refrigerator, the report said.

An employee was ordered to discard a container of milk after inspectors found meat drippings on top of it.

“Potentially hazardous foods” including sliced beef, cheese, fish and shrimp were outside of proper holding temperatures.

There were no paper towels in the dispenser at the hand wash sink near the food prep area. In addition, the women’s restroom was out of order.

Inspectors observed “dark mold-like residue” on the ice machine, the report said, as well as old food debris, trash and grease accumulation on the floor, under cooking equipment and inside a refrigerator.

Ready-to-serve foods were being stored below raw protein in an upright refrigerator at the time of inspection.

Inspectors noted equipment in need of repair including an ice cream chest freezer and a large two-door upright freezer.

Lastly, inspectors found an outdated health permit posted at the restaurant.

As of Thursday afternoon, the restaurant had not been reinspected (August 22, 2024).

Went on a Friday night around 7pm. Only one person working. You can tell he was swamped. Another customer stated that this employee has been by himself before. He was moving fast, kept washing his hands, and seemed pretty accurate. Food tasted great our order was on point, excatly the way we ordered it. Problem was, he was very rude, we wanted to leave but we had already paid. He made us feel like we were bothering him. In my opinion he was acting pissed off. While he was cooking he was slamming things, throwing thing around, and talking to himself. As the phone was ringing he was getting more and more pissed off until he just took the phone off the hook. Its very understandable why he was feeling the way he was about working alone and being so busy but he shouldn't make customers feel this way. A time and place for everything. For the amount they charge the establishment could of been much cleaner. All most 60.00 for 3 hambugers and 3 fries. Meals come served piping hot, so great for take out. Prices are fair. Staff is friendly and dishes out food with only a fairly short wait.

The fish and chips batter is quite crispy and I enjoy the flavor of the complimentary tartar sauce with the lemon. (Malt vinegar makes the fish and chips even more flavorful if you do take out & have some around.)

Fries are cut large, greasy, and plain but great with ketchup. They hit the spot for me. They do need added sauce or salt though, which they provide.

Their burgers honestly aren't my favorite, - mine had ingredients keep falling out from sauce and grease making everything slippery. Some people like this style of burger though so to each their own. I come more for the fish and chips.

I just wish they had a special fish and chip menu option with Cod instead of the whitefish they currently use, battered cod is amazing. Currently tastes like pollock or tilapia, which is OK, but not the best...
