This establishment is discriminatory against African Americans. I visited this restaurant for a special occasion. There was a reservation for fifteen people. Once the individual who made the reservation arrived, they told the host simply that all fifteen people of the party may not come. The host then asked how many were expected and the individual told the host less than fifteen but more than ten. After that conversation, my party waited not even five minutes until we were taken to be seated. The area where we were sitting only accommodated seven people. Once seated as the rest of our party arrived, there were no more seats available, and five people were made to stand by the table for my party for a significant amount of time, almost forty-five minutes. My party requested an additional table numerous times but was denied. The rationale was that we changed our reservation; therefore, our additional table was given to another reservation that would arrive within the next hour. We questioned that explanation several times because the conversation with the host about the number of people in our party was discussed only the day of five minutes before we were seated, so how could the additional table needed for our party no longer be available and reserved for another party within five minutes? This question was never answered. To problem solve we then requested for a table that was not being occupied nor reserved on the patio outside where my party was to be used for the accommodation for the remainder of the guests who were still standing. We were again denied this accommodation. The rationale was that moving the table to accommodate the guests of my party who were standing would block the walkway and, therefore, cause a hazard. The problem regarding this rationale was that the walk was already being compromised by the original table my party was supposed to have, which was reserved for a party coming with the hour. Why is this table okay to block the walkway? This question was never answered either. We then asked for additional seats for the guests who were still standing, with the goal of twelve people squeezing into one table. We then were made to wait fifteen additional minutes after trying to problem solve with the manager and other workers. After fifteen additional minutes, no additional chairs had been brought to accommodate the guests who were still standing, we then requested to be moved. We were then moved inside. All of this took over an hour, and all we had ordered was water. During this ordeal, we then noticed that several members of our party, more than five people, were served water in cracked glasses. We then request uncracked glasses of water. We were told than we had to use disposable cups as the restaurant was out of glasses. My party looked around the restaurant, which was not that big inside or outside, and literally no one else was drinking out of a disposable cup. My party responded by saying if no one in the restaurant is drinking out of disposable cups, why would we agree to that. We again requested uncracked glasses of water and were made to wait ten minutes for water. We requested to speak with the owner and were notified that the owner was busy cooking in the kitchen; the owner never came out to our table. This was a hurtful experience as my party was the only group in the restaurant at the time who were African American. We were treated as if we did not matter, our requests were not necessary, and our presence there as customers was of little importance to this establishment. I will never be back ever. This restaurant needs significant improvement as their food wasn’t good either, but the deplorable treatment takes priority in this review. If you are African American or black and you want to be valued and treated with respect, Roosters on the River is absolutely not the place to eat at and patronize. Please take your money and appetite...
Read moreMy large family ate here tonight for my step daughter’s 13th birthday. We had quite a large party at least 20 people. So I really don’t want to go in on my server because I totally understand the wait time with so many people and children from ages 1-16. However, (honest feedback) I hope this is a learning experience on how to seat a large party and get MOST of the food out before other are finished.
Our server: he was very nice and attentive, had our drinks out in somewhat a timely manner. He made sure our cups were always full. Also checked in on us often. He took our orders promptly. Now, this is where I have my issue with service but again understanding we had a very large party. We were seating at 6:45PM. The food did not come untill, 8PM and only a portion of the meals.
The food: After waiting an 1 hour and 15 mins for the food, I ordered the garlic shrimp noodles for $23. My boyfriend ordered the blackened salmon and rice w/veggies for $28. The garlic shrimp noodles was thee most AWFUL noodles I’ve ever tried. Not worth it guys! Don’t eat here! Believe the bad reviews ok. BUT No taste of garlic what’s go ever. I think they tired to put a lil bland cream so the noodle weren’t dry but they were and mostly noodles SEE PHOTO!! Also in photo my step son was seating across from me whom also didn’t get his meal with mines waited about 10 more minutes. My boyfriend was the last person to receive his food. Almost 30 minutes later. It took so long our party started to crack jokes about him never going to get food. I tired to wait to eat with my boyfriend. Of course you want to eat WITH your group and partner. Also it’s my step daughter’s birthday. But because (I only assume) because our group was so large they forgot some plates. My plate was cold by the time my boyfriend’s food came and by then everyone was asking for boxes. The salmon was absolutely not worth it. My boyfriend and I were extremely upset we waited for this pure disappointment. The worse part is they charge a 20% gratuity on top of our bill because of such large party which is understandable to pay WHEN YOU HAVE AMAZING SUPER GREAT SERVICE IN A TIMELY MANNER! & the food having any kind of taste or flavor or seasoning. Like GEEEEEEEZUS! Throw a lil garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Basic seasoning 101, start there and add some love to it. You can’t go wrong!! But this place is a CATFISH RESTAURANT. Looks great outside, inside decor and feel seems upscale somewhat! But they got people in the back calling they selfs cooks but they really just playing in tall plates. Ain’t no...
Read moreOur recent dinner experience at Roosters on the River with a party of five was, regrettably, less than stellar. Right from the start, the seating arrangement was less than ideal; our table was bisected by beams, making it challenging for half of our party to see each other, which dampened the ambiance for a group dining experience.
On a positive note, the service we received was a highlight of the evening. Our server was both awesome and attentive, ensuring our needs were met promptly. The drinks we ordered were another high point, crafted to perfection and enjoyable, albeit priced on the higher side - a trend that's becoming all too common.
However, the food was where our experience truly faltered. Our appetizers consisted of quesadillas, guacamole, nachos, and chile verde fries. Unfortunately, only the chile verde fries managed to deliver any memorable flavor. The remaining appetizers were forgettable and left us anticipating more from our main courses.
The entrees we selected included garlic shrimp, shrimp tacos, Alfredo pasta, and Cajun pasta. The garlic shrimp was passable but didn't stand out. The shrimp tacos were particularly disappointing; the shrimp was over-seasoned and chopped to the point of losing its texture and appeal. The Alfredo pasta fell short, tasting more like noodles in overly salted milk than a rich, creamy sauce. Lastly, the Cajun pasta was mediocre, suffering from a lack of any Cajun seasoning that could have elevated the dish.
While the service and drinks at Roosters on the River were commendable, the dinner food was a letdown, with many dishes lacking in flavor or poorly executed. It's unfortunate that the culinary aspect didn't match the high quality of service and beverages. This dining experience left us with mixed feelings, appreciating the efforts of the staff but ultimately disappointed by the...
