Went bike riding through this park, and it has potential to be a nice place, it has that deep in the forest feeling. There is a covered area with plenty of picnic tables for a large gathering, and bathrooms which are not in service/closed. There is cement picnic tables spaced out in other parts of the park but not useful since its hard to get to them in the long uncut grass and weeds. The park pretty much looks forgotten about, the information markings on the signs along the trail are missing . Near the back of the park are some long steep cement stairs going up the hill to get to garden highway, near the Chevys. Looked like there was homeless living back there at some point since there was trash,& clothes like a camp or what-not. Could be a little creepy in the evenings, I would want to be there alone. Read moreAbsolutely one of the nicest parks to spend some time either basking in the sun or chillen in the shade on a fresh field of green grass you can put up your volleyball net or anything else there's a bbq area with several tables under a roof there's good water access and clean restrooms and more drinking fountains .the oak trees are just absorbing in there beauty .just across the level is the Sacramento river along with a few restaurants and across the street there's apt buildings where the folks are quite and nice as well as clean landscaping. A few homeless come and go to fill there water jugs and or meet someone for a break in the shade it's a well mixed park .one older gal stays in her car with her nice behaving poodle she's quite as well. Good place for a group function open from dusk to dawn with plenty of parking . Two thumbs upper...
Read moreThis grove is a cool place to visit and learn a little bit about the history of the Sacramento Valley. Take the path counterclockwise from the entrance at River Plaza and read all of the information boards. I recommend going in the spring. This is when all the flowers will be blooming. There's picnic tables as well in case you want to have a nice little lunch under the canopy of the centries...
