I've moved to Sacramento about a month ago during that time have only gone in to two other Mexican restaurants that were just okay. These restaurants (opposed to the 12 plus taco trucks I've visited) have either had small tacos or poor quality meat. This restaurant is the exception to the rule. I tried the carnitas, pastor, and asada. The carnitas taco was definitely bigger than the other two, but it wasn't like any of them were anyway small. This taco was just big lol. The carnitas had decent flavor, was fried up before being served to me🙏🏾, but could have been fresher and juicier. The pastor was delicious and fresh tasting, came in long delicious strips and was not like the premade pastor you'll see some people cook with that pink soggy dyed look to it. This was the real deal besides no pineapple that I noticed. The beef was not worth it. I wouldn't order the beef again with the pastor being so delicious tbh. The prices were 2.80 a taco which is very reasonable and they had free chips and salsa if you ordered 10 dollars or more. The salsa and chips were amazing and tied the experience together. Service was prompt, if not cold and there were some others in...
Read moreWe found this place at the last minute during a visit to Sac and I am so glad we did.
The ambience is nice, not of the full-on cantina variety but open and bright. Though it is a counter service establishment, they do bring the food to your table.
The salsa bar is incredible. They offer three types of salsa (two red and one green), chips, lemon, fresh pico de gallo, grilled onions and peppers, and delicious escabeche (pickled peppers and vegetables), the latter of which you don't find at every Mexican restaurant in NorCal. This escabeche is also unique in that it includes pickled potatoes in addition to the more typical peppers and other vegetables.
The food is served almost as quickly as it is ordered (less than five minutes in our case of a vegetarian burrito and Chile relleno) and is positively delicious. The prices are great, given the portions offered and the excellent Mexican flavor. I was delighted to see a nice variety of vegetarian items as well, in addition to our fare.
All in all, I will happily revisit this restaurant when I am in the area and hungry for some...
Read moreTried to order through website for delivery. The site said order processed. The time given was 35 to 56 minutes. Called 45 minutes after order as the site function of current order had no info. Was told the order went through but it had only 45 minutes after i gave my name. Called back 45 minutes later. There was no order received. They said nothing had come up for them and to call Menu Star which is who they use for delivery. I ordered through their website, so I thought we were using their delivery service. I have no way to know who I'm supposed to talk to at Menu Star as Taqueria is their customer, not me. I understand miscommunication happens, but I would be calling Menu Star right away to make sure it doesn't happen more of my customers instead of pushing a customer to call that had just been messed over by my website and someone working there. May try again sometime in the distantfuture, but will not...
