Easy to miss small corner restaurant serving up viet food. I've been driving by this place since moving to Sacramento. It doesn't look like much from outside, but oh my, it is great. Came yesterday for the first time now, finding myself sitting and waiting for my food a second day in a row. The inside is surprisingly nice, clean, and maybe recently remodeled. In Sacramento, you're always close to some great vietnamese food, and I am always on the lookout for the next best bowl of Bun Bo Hue. This place may have just been the best I've had. The broth was rich and complex, and the fresh herbs on the side were a little different than other places. The stainless steel bowl they serve in keeps it piping hot for the whole meal. The stand-out here was the noodles. I've just gotten used to the noodles just seeming like a filler ingredient alongside the typical Bun Bo ingredients. Not here. The noodles were firm, chewy, and had a bounce to them I hadn't experienced anywhere else. The egg rolls were great and the service friendly. Today, I had the beef stew noodle soup bo kho, I think, so I could take advantage of the lunch specials. It and the chicken wings were great. If i had to recommend one or the other, I would say get the Bun Bo Hue. This will be my new restaurant obsession for my favorite...
Read moreI went there back in the day and had a great meal. When I went to pay (this was probably 20 years ago) they didn't take ATM and I didn't have money. The older lady who I've always guessed was the owner told me with a smile on her face not to worry and pay next time. I came back with my wife and paid for our dinner and the lunch I had before. Since then I've taken countless people, family and friends there. It's always been good and I'll never forget the kindness of that lady the first time I went there. My mother was always a big fan of the crispy pan fried noodles with seafood combination. It's hard for me to go back to this restaurant since my mother has died. Maybe I'm afraid the older lady has passed too. Anyway I will always be a fan...
Read moreWe each got a noodle bowl (pho) which was okay like the rest of the usual pho restaurants. Unfortunately my bowl had a smell/odor that wasn’t pleasant so I didn’t eat it. There was also a small green lint on my shrimp (it looked like the green part of a dish sponge) so that was another turn off. I didn’t eat my bowl but because the lady was so kind and friendly, I didn’t say anything and we just paid for our meal and left. Another thing—bring cash! Our visa debit wouldn’t work and she said it was something with her machine. Luckily we had some cash so we were...
