Rita's Southern Soul Cafe — Restaurant in Saginaw

About the most fun I've ever had eating lunch!

On a cross-country bicycling trip, my partner and I found ourselves stuck in Saginaw for an extra day when the weather turned cold and wet. After checking out the nearby museum, we looked around for a place to eat on a Sunday and decided on checking out Rita's. We paid for our buffet tickets, gathered a plate, and sat down. Within moments the staff came up and checked on us. We told them our story about being on a multi-week cycling trip.

That news traveled fast because soon the owner, then her niece, and a few other family members came up to check on us, look at pictures of the trip, exchange facebook info, and hear more about our adventure. We felt like some kind of celebrity - Rita and her family literally could not have made us feel more welcome and at-home. Saginaw was a bit of a disappointment on the trip but I'd honestly return just to visit Rita's again.

Attend an ALL WHITE BIRTHDAY 🎂 PARTY. Atmosphere was GREAT. DECOR was SPOT ON - Not only in the Dining Room but the Boudoir had Black/White decor & was very clean. The only thing missing was FOOD. I had A SAMPLE of FRIED MUSHROOMS to go with PATRON. Initially, we started with 1 Bartender. As the evening continued, more bartenders were on deck. The ONLY thing I regretted was the Dude in the DJ. area. No mixing skills & worse- NO UPDATED MUSIC. IF- get FOOD & a REAL DJ/Mixologist on Deck, then this place would be STANDING...

I was so disappointed. I thought I was going to get a really good meal. Boy was I wrong the potatoes were cold and tough as a matter of fact all my food was cold. The Shrimp and grits might have been good if the Shrimp wasn't over cooked and rubbery. I paid almost $20 for a plate I was so glad I didn't pay for all you can eat.
