May, 2025 Found myself back in the area at lunchtime so I figured I'd give them another opportunity. Really is just a wine store/bakery/pizza place. There is nowhere inside to eat. The restroom aren't available. Strictly carry-out only. So I'm not eating lunch here, my car is not a dining room. But I decided to pick up a couple of donuts for Saturday breakfast so I can have some idea if the food is that good. With at least four people working, the service was surprisingly slow. Get your number, wait several minutes. One older woman appeared to be helping a customer but just sort of wandered around the bakery case looking at things. Guess she doesn't know what's inside it. Both she and the woman wrapping up pizza slices & sandwiches to-go were bare-handed. From food to money to boxes and countertops and right back to food. Not sanitary at all! š³ She did use the little papers for getting two of the donuts but not for the other two. Not looking forward to food poisoning. Tongs are a neat device, try them out. The cherry donut was very tasty. I like that it was glazed on both sides so it did not dry out. The chocolate frosted stands out in that the frosting actually stays on the donut & not on the paper. The two apple fritters were eaten the next day. Both were seriously thick, well-glazed (again, avoided drying out) but only one had any apple in it and very little at that. The cinnamon was a bit lighter than others but still good. Work on your proper food handling/sanitation and maybe I'll stop in again.
Tried to stop at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024. (The Italian sub sounds delicious.) Lights are out, doors are locked. No longer serving at this location or maybe an extended holiday closure I can't say. But I'm...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThey were closed for a vacation last time I stopped by for one of their famous canolis I was there in 12-21-24 And tried their sought after fig cookie. I only bought 1 since I wasn't sure I would want more. OMG, I loved every bite and by the time I finished it I vowed I have to go back ASAP for more. I was also lucky to get a slice of their cassata cake and it looks so appetizing.... and I got 1 canoli that I have not had in years. I got a piece of their pizza but it was not as good as it looked since the toppings were dried out (it was ready made). I talked to a guy in line who was raving about their Italian subs and said they are better than any of the chain restaurant subs and said you cannot find a better fresher sub This is a small bakery and the place was packed. I waited at least 15 minutes and live 45 minutes away. I now have a major craving for their fig Cookie that the cassata cake and canoli will not quell. Do not miss your chance to try some fig cookies. August 17, 2025 I tried the breadcrumb square pizza; oh my Goodness...oh yum š I got one piece to try and now I have to go order a square pizza breadcrumb style...so full of flavor and is beyond delicious š; my new favorite pizza. Thanks Bommarito Bakery; you make thousands of people happy just by doing what you have been doing since 1925! Keep up the good work... I live at 30 mile and Van Dyke and I have to drive 40 minutes one way just to get some breadcrumb style pizza because no one else makes it this style. I also had their famous lemon ice ... everyone needs to try both the lemon ice and the breadcrumb pizza. Both of these...

Iād been meaning to stop at this bakery for the longest time, but until now, the timing never worked outāit was either closed or I didnāt have the option. Today, I finally made it in.
Getting inside, however, was a challenge. I use an upright walker, and there is a step at the entrance that must be navigated to get through the doors. While I understand the bakery has a historical marker outside and is part of the areaās history, that doesnāt change the fact that itās not ADA-compliant. For people with walkers, wheelchairs, or other mobility devices, this step could be a barrierāor even a dealbreaker. I was able to manage because the step was just small enough, but it still took effort and care.
Once inside, the place instantly felt like āhome.ā The staff was warm, welcoming, and happy to help. The display offered a lovely selection of baked goods, and I couldnāt resist picking up a loaf of Italian/French bread (as labeled) with a seeded top.
The bread? OMGāabsolutely delicious. The crust had that perfect chew, and the center was soft and fresh. Despite the hurdle of getting through the door, this bakery is worth the effort.
Bottom line: If mobility isnāt an issue for you, getting inside will be no problem, and youāll likely love what you find. If you do have mobility challenges, be aware thereās a step at the entrance without a ramp. For me, despite the difficulty, the bread alone made the...
