Arrived at the restaurant this past Sunday. We were aware that the restaurant closed at 4 pm and we arrived a little before 3:30 PM. Three employees were at the checkout and they started whispering to each other. One of them went up to a third woman and said something to her. We got the feeling that they were getting ready to close and they didn’t want to serve us. The third woman said yeah OK. Then the employee that seated us asked us if we knew they closed at 4 PM? It was only 3:30 pm so we felt like they didn’t want our business but we ate anyway as we were only ordering salads. Why does this business say open till 4 PM if they want to close at 3:30 PM? I did not find this to be good customer service. But most importantly, just as another person posted here, our waitress came up to the table with her mask pulled down under her nose. We all know that the virus can be spread through the nose as well as the mouth. Of course my guest and I had our masks on But the employees should definitely have their mask on. I had to ask her when she comes up to our table again would she please put her mask on covering her nose. She was polite about it and said yes sure and she did do that but when we were still eating, she was sweeping the floor with a broom close to our table and had her mask down again. She was not 6 feet away. I will not be eating at this restaurant again. If the owner allows this to happen and looks like the non-mask wearing people are an ongoing issue at this restaurant, he or she obviously doesn’t care about people. Plus he doesn’t think he has to follow the governors guidelines for businesses. If this post is removed I will be filing a claim with the attorney generals office. And most specifically I posted this for those who are in the high-risk category. I am in the high-risk group and so...
Read moreFirst this is the first week they are open. Second it is Sunday after Church. Of course there was a wait. The place had hype waiting for it to open. This is the soft opening of an upscale brunch place in Saint Clair Shores. If you you did not expect a wait that is on you. The menu was not stardard fare-it was intriging and creative. The brunch drinks on this my first visit-I decided not to pass up. I enjoyed the Pasionfruit Cocktail! My guest had the Bloody Mary which did not come with a celery Stalk or any other adornments. His Bloddy Mary was spicy- It is hard for me to judge the quality since it is not a drink of choice for me. My pasionfruit cocktail was light bubbly and refreshing for a hot fall day. Our Server was terribly busy but very professional. Our dishes when arrived were stellar in presentation. This is not a Coney Island. My guest ordered the traditional american breakfast and was well pleased, he did not comment much just that he enjoyed his brunch. I could not help but notice his eggs were cooked without any brown spots from over cooking. He would have been more talkative if they had what he was hoping for on the menu-traditional Eggs Benedict. My Lobster Omelette was perfection! A true french omelette --meaning absolutely noy one speck of a brown spot from cooking! The toast was artisan bread! The home fries were a rust color I have not seen before and very tasty, not over cooked nor under cooked. The home fries also did not appear to be taking up all the negative space on the plate to make it appear more full of the entree. This is my first visit and I give it 5 stars. I will report on future visits arriving at different times to check out other items. This new spot is pricey but well...
Read moreI went to brunch with me on Saturday, March 9, 2024. I did not have a good experience. The pancakes were gummy. They brought me out a second batch. It was also gummy, the pancakes also were not flavorful to me. I then ordered the waffles, they were gummy too. As I waited for my pancakes my scrambled eggs sat there getting cold.
When it was time to pay, the manager Josefina came out to talk to me about the bill. Instead of taking the pancakes off my bill she offered me a 20% discount. I was disappointed that Josefina wanted me to pay for food I did not eat.
I asked Josefina, whether any black people work there as servers or waitress? Josefina stated no they do not. She then stated to me, they had a black dishwasher before but he died. I sat there, thinking wow she is so out of touch with the world that she was proud to say that to me. I am deeply disturbed by her statement it’s so sad to see people that are still stuck back in slavery. Some people today think that Black people are only good for singing and dancing and washing their dishes. But, they’re not good enough to be a server or waitress at their establishment. However, it’s ok for Black people to come to your establishment and spend their money, but obviously, Josefina does not respect Black people. When someone tell you that “we had a black man dishwasher one time. It tells you the lack of respect they have for you. Josephina associates a black person as a dishes washer and not a server or a waitress.
Brunch with me has a mixed clientele with no blacks working there, except for the music man.
Josefina lives her life in a box with a closed mine. The statement she made to me allowed me to examine just how lost...
