Detroit Cookie Company — Restaurant in Saint Clair Shores

Absolutely terrible cookies. I know that sounds unbelievable since they're a cookie company, but the cookies really are not that great. My whole house had the same sentiment, even my sweet tooth having brother who will eat anything sweet. These cookies just miss the mark. Tried multiple flavors, they were all dry and crumbly from sitting out. The first red flag i noticed on my first visit was all the gimmicky flavors (smores this, sprinkle dinkle that, cap'n crunch galaxy blah blah blah) but i thought eh, its 2024. But that usually means the quality is not good, so they hide behind the gimmicky flavors. Then i noticed the lack of classic flavors such as peanut butter, oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip, sugar, macadamia nut etc. which was the 2nd red flag. Honestly, they may have those flavors hidden somewhere, but they're not fore front. I will say this, the place is huge and wondrous, but i think once you get over the wide-eyed wow factor of alllllllll the cookies, you'll see that they really lack flavor, texture, and character. There are no crispy chocolate chunk cookies with a gooey center here. And the brownies looked so heavy and wet, i honestly didn't think they had even been baked! My second time there was today (Saturday) for their Cinnamon Roll rush. I pulled up about 3 mins til open and there was a line of about 15 people.

Ended up needing to park about 4 houses down and people were getting dropped at the curb. It looked a little mad but the line was all inside by the time I got to the door up and more piled behind me.

The line was a well oiled machine of rotating assistants and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes as soon as I got past the door.

The cinnamon roll itself ended up being well worth it. I only have the store bought Pillsbury and maybe a random store bought bakery experience to compare it to but the buttery cinnamon sweetness did not disappoint.

The cookies were a great treat the first time, our favorites are some of their rotating ones - Blue Moon and the Superwoman Cheesecake. The consistency of a perfect cookie both with a bit of a crispness while also being moist and flavorful is a great experience in comparison to most places that offer hard and dry cookies.

I bought cookies as a gift to my vendors. I told the cashier I needed a receipt, since I signed up for the rewards I was told a receipt would be emailed to me. I actually received a coupon, but not a receipt. I called the store and explained that I needed the receipt for tax reasons. I was told that they were really busy, but if I could provide the last 4# of the card used someone would call me back and I could pick up a receipt. I never received a call or a receipt.
