Eastside Bagel — Restaurant in Saint Clair Shores

I promise you there are not enough stars available to give this place. They are absolutely incredible. My fiancé and I were on our way to Chicago when we stopped here for the first time. We live about an hour away. The smell as soon as you walk in makes you want to flip through all your old photos, it just gives you that homey, comfy, vibe. There was a LINE out the door but we made it to the front in less than five minutes. Their service is impeccable. Specifically the owner. He was incredibly personable, we loved the way he was training new employees, he was so positive and uplifting. I loved how his sons also worked there, it just felt like family as soon as we walked in. He recommended their house made cinnamon rolls with house made frosting…they are GIANT first of all, smothered in the best frosting I have ever had and we ate it in 3 bites. We got a dozen and a half of their bagels…they did NOT disappoint. I’ve never had a bagel that fresh in my life. Their bagel sandwiches are on a whole different level-fresh eggs, fresh avocado, fresh meat, PILED HIGH. The portions are more than generous. I also want to mention how clean they kept the place despite the insane line and business of the place. It’s safe to say we will be making the hour long drive to this bagel place again, and again and again. This is NOT a paid review…I’m just really passionate about my food lol

I also saw another review about “the way they treat people of color”. I witnessed the same exact service we received to every human that walked through the door no matter what they looked like. They also have people of color working there. Who knows what experience that specific person had but I just wanted to throw it out there that there was no difference in service. That type of review can be very detrimental to small businesses if it is fabricated. If you see a bagel place with a line out the door and they are working their a** off to provide exceptional service, give them a break. Especially in this...

We came in and got in a long line behind about a dozen people and gradually worked our way towards the front. Luckily there's a menu to look at while you're waiting which is nice. Once you get to the front somebody will take your order and just so you know that same person will bring your order to you, after a while. While you're waiting you pay, honor system I guess, guy just asks what you ordered and you tell him. Then you wait, in a crowd, we didn't know how this worked so after a bit I asked the guy at the cash register and he said that he will remember us.. Eventually the same guy that took our order came out with a bag of our food and brought it to us at our table. While we waited we were able to grab a booth which was cool, always like to eat my food when it's the freshest. So the sandwiches were delicious except one was miniature, not sure why but felt kind of ripped off for a $9 or $10 sandwich it was tiny, can see in the photo. They came with bagel crisps and a pickle which was nice except the bagel crisps definitely need some cream cheese so it's sort of like an upsell. Unsold bagels turned into crisps that causes people to buy cream cheese, which is exactly what we did, got back in line for cream cheese. The garlic cream cheese was delicious also. Oh yeah the avocado on the one sandwich was pretty rock hard. Weird thing, the owner was talking to a taller gentleman who tried hittin on a girl that was there waiting and she did not like it,...

All done with Eastside Bagel.. very disappointed!!! Been coming here for years and now we’re all done. We were all at a big wedding recently talking about food resturaunts and Eastside came up and in the past few months we’ve all said …what has changed here? .Why do people sweep and vaccuum when customers are eating.. second of all if your not staying open till three anymore and now it’s 2pm then be open till 2 pm and quit making customers feel like they have to hurry up and leave when it’s 130 pm… and some customers are treated with more respect than others and the owner and his wife have been rude to several customers… thats ok because none of us will be back !! We’ve over looked to many things already… shame on you guys .. u have a lot to learn!! Hope u learn it because if its happened to all of us it’s happened to other customers also! Also u close things up and refuse to make certain items at 130 pm.. and told us to come at an earlier time! Really!! We drove across town after work to be there before 2pm!!! Wow u just don’t treat customers like...
