Food is great. I read alot of these reviews and I see alot of male and female "Karens" and want to address the negative comments (I do not have any affiliation for the record but I do know the staff because I am a regular at the Gratiot location).
1: This is their new location, carry out express means fast everyone gets that but if their is an abundance of orders than obviously their could be a wait. I seen a idiot say "it said express, had to wait 15 minuites" and gave a 1 star review" and that makes me mad that ur tarnishing a newer business because they just opened and were busy.
2: Other review stated wrong order, with the volume of orders they have been receiving that is a honest mistake that could be rectified simply by calling and getting a credit for the inconvenience their are very nice and owner is awesome and very nice, their human and under pressure to fulfill a high volume of orders and due to covid understaffed.
3: their Food wasn't flavorful. I personally can assure you that the food is great and seasoned very well as a authentic Mexican restaurant. Now that being said everyone isn't gonna like the same things so understandable if you don't like it that's totally OK and ur opinion and your entitled to it, but don't review and say food sucks its trash. Everyone doesn't like the same thing.
4: someone said staff is unfriendly. I can promise that is the biggest lie on this review page. Everyone is so nice and friendly I would invite them over for my daughters bday party their so kind.
5: someone was complaining they over charge for extra pico and other stuff I was charged 2$ more. Their prices are far less than el Charo and other Mexican restaurants andbetter quality in my opinion. During this hard time (covid) with limited staff and another location that was shut down which is their main business I wouldn't blame them if they charged more because they need to stay afloat or they will close. This isn't a qdoba where sides are free grow up. People who are cheap or broke complaining that their is a 2$ charge for pico and other sides are ridiculous.
The place is great with good food. It's new so give them time if u had a bad experience call and let them know in a nice way 😉 and they will accommodate. Sorry for the long review just hate idiots shaming because it's not done the way they think is right its like a bunch of children writing these negative reviews and it can...
Read moreFinally was able to come by and try out Crazy Gringos newest location a couple weeks after they've opened.
I've tried their Clinton Twp. location in the past and wasn't really impressed, but figured this "Express" version was set up a little different I might as well try it.
They have a cute little patio in the back near the parking that I was pleasantly surprised to see! It's nice that more and more SCS restaurants are starting to offer this feature! The inside is pretty nice and well decorated. Everything was extremely clean and all employees seemed to be taking the COVID precautions seriously (hand sanitizer, masks, distancing, etc) so that was a huge plus.
Now, on to my food!
I ordered their Chori Pollo dish as it's not something you see commonly on menus but it's somethin I love to get! The bowl was a decent size but didn't seem like a lot of food for the price. I was wrong on that because I was overstuffed after eating it. Everything was really delicious. Their chorizo had a great kick of spice and wasn't greasy as most places serve it. The chicken had a good seasoning and was grilled and cubed up to perfection. The rice in the dish was really orange so I was expecting some heavy flavours but it just tasted kind of bland, no problem though as everything else had enough flavour to compensate. I think next time I would ask for a little extra queso as I didn't think there was enough on it.
My only complaint I have is I asked what came ON the dish. I was told "Chorizo, grilled chicken, rice, and queso. Then on the side you will get lettuce, pico de gallo, and guacamole.". So I thought, cool, I'll get my little bowl and the sides will be in a separate container (like how fajitas are offered), but I was wrong. About 1/3 of the bowl had the mix of guac and pico and was served on top rather than "on the side". I normally wouldn't complain but I have an aversion to cilantro (tastes like soap to me) and it kind of ruined a third of my meal. The rest was absolutely delicious, but now I know for next time how to order it the way...
Read moreAbsolute worst I have ever had! The steak was cut to the size of a shoestring! Ridiculous overpriced not good. Salsa was so strange. They won’t last long very disappointed to say the least it’s a shame they could do things right but choose not too. There was barely any meat unreal. Just go ahead and close your doors now don’t wait. :Edited after owners response. You being the owner and main representative of your many locations. Absolutely floored me to see that was the way you defended your pour service and lousy food. Your attitude with customers won’t get you very far. If this is the way you respond instead of fixing your major problem, you will only have more problems. I also notice you get a lot of negative reviews that you choose not to respond to but I think this one got under your skin and the fact that you have a 3.6 in stars in a short time of opening should be another huge Indicator that you aren’t doing so well. Maybe you should sit down and read instead of being defensive about customers experiences. I do believe you are not properly suited to own a restaurant. The food was terrible, not very much there and overpriced a recipe for failure. Don’t run from the many other dissatisfied customers, there will only be more in your...
