Pros: Service,Atmosphere, drinks Service was spectacular very accommodating and charismatic. The atmosphere was great too very thematic and cozy. both the food and drinks were good however, the drinks took the spotlight. Thier presentation is exotic but on theme for the drink. They taste great, strong but complimenting flavors. Thier price is good for the amount you receive in Thier own special glasses. Cons: wait times, parking, menue size Wait times were kinda long in-between seating and ordering to receiving food. I am pretty sure it was bc thisr was only one waitress working the table but she was fantastic in total it was almost 45 minutes maybe a little more before I received my food. Parking here isn't an issue for me personally but I have seen people stumped on how to park. They also have a small parking lotwhich doesn't help. The amount of options is not the issue it's the actual size of the menue it's 5-6 pages long widely spaced out which is nice but I don't want too flip back and forth a bunch to compare eating options. Overall : highly recommend I had gone with one extra person but they seat up too 4-8 at a time. It was a great experience kinda pricy I ended up paying like 80-90 $ so 40$ per person if your getting a full course meal complete with appetizers, main, desert. I love all the options they provide and highly recommend you visit with a date or a group of friends.
(Side note: I didn't include this in the final review but as of writing this they do not provide any alcohol but I was informed roughly in two months they will have Thier license and be serving drinks at the...
Read moreSpoon Thawee: The Best Thai Food I’ve Ever Had As a person who’s traveled a ton, first through my years in the military and now for line work , I’ve eat Thai food from countless corners of the world. Yet, nothing holds a candle to the extraordinary experience at Spoon Thawee in Saint Johnsbury, Vermont. This unassuming gem serves, without question, the best Thai food I’ve ever tasted. Walking into Spoon Thawee, I was greeted by a cozy ambiance and friendly staff that made me feel right at home. The menu brimmed with authentic dishes, but my eyes locked onto the khao soi with beef. What arrived was nothing short of a masterpiece. A rich, creamy coconut curry broth with a perfect kick of spice, tender beef, and crispy egg noodles for that ideal textural contrast. Every bite was a symphony of bold yet balanced flavors, tangy, savory, and subtly sweet, leaving me savoring each spoonful. The dish showcased an impeccable attention to detail, from the vibrant fresh herbs to the flawlessly cooked noodles. It’s evident the chefs at Spoon Thawee pour their heart into crafting authentic, high-quality food. The portion was hearty, the presentation inviting, and the flavors so unforgettable that I’m already planning my next visit. Whether you’re a Thai food aficionado or simply looking for a memorable meal in Saint Johnsbury, Spoon Thawee is a must. I’ll be back for more of that khao soi, and I can’t wait to dive deeper into their menu. I am only here for a week but I already know I will miss this...
Read moreI don't usually write reviews but I don't understand how this place has so many 5 star reviews (though some of the 5 star reviews are obviously fake when you look through them). Or how the small eating area had so many people when I went to pick up my food (the inside of the restaurant is in need of some fixing up too). Maybe it's because I've only been to Thai restaurants in bigger cities, but I was super disappointed with my food. I ordered chicken pad Thai and shrimp red curry - a couple of basic dishes to test a Thai restaurant out. Pad Thai tasted nothing like I was expecting and didn't look like pad Thai to me either. And the red curry was bland. The basic flavor was what I was expecting, but it just fell flat. It wasn't spicy and it just didn't taste great. Though I thought it was better than the pad Thai - the pad Thai was just not good.
Maybe it was an off night for them or something but I threw away my leftovers (more than half of both dishes) and I don't like to waste food. I ate what I got for dinner because I was hungry, didn't want to figure out an alternative, and I had already paid for it; that's about it.
On the plus side - my food was ready when I got there. But the plus side is also questionable because I've never had either dish ready for pick up in less than 20 minutes so makes me question whether the dishes are...
