This is the first review I’ve ever written and so well deserved.
A hidden gem for sure. We ate there our first day of arrival from being in an airport or airplane from 3am by 4 pm Wednesday we were starving and thirsty... I have to admit I was like this place really. Randy the owner his wife and our server Lori hands down amazing, made us feel like locals the second we walked in (this is a local hidden HOTSPOT) The seared tuna tacos were amazing, the drinks were not lacking at allll. Thursday we ate a very expensive steak house in Red hook literally double what we payed at Carigas and got cold steaks, cold tuna steaks etc.
We came back for dinner Friday my fiancé’s birthday and it was even better than the first time, fish and chips (Grouper) was cooked perfectly, fresh, lightly breaded and steaming hot, my fiancé’s chicken Lasagna was also amazing, Free happy hour shot and literally the entire place singing and clapping for my beautiful soon to be brides birthday. We will go back a couple more times before we leave Wednesday. Randy thank you for noticing the Texas team of four were back, thanking us for our business and returning, owning my own business as well THATS customer service!! Lori your just awesome, literally welcomed us with open arms and excited to see us.
Keep it up guys. We’re always booking a trip in July and Carigas will be one of our main lunch, dinner and drinks spots.
Much love, and continued growth..... The Texas team Scott, Britt,...
Read moreThere's nothing like starting a weekend day with a leisurely breakfast at Carigas. Tucked away in the marina area across the street from food center is a really ghetto shack and deck shaded by mangrove trees and decorated with high school theater props at the waters edge. These folks serve up THE best breakfast burritos, eggs Benedict and coffee. Their hot sauce collection to use with having breakfast here is also one of these best we've ever seen. They have a mango coconut Caribbean hot sauce that goes sooooo well with the breakfast burrito.
We love coming here after having to drop the fur babies off at their grooming appointments with canines cats and critters around the corner and the team here is so awesome in not rushing you out to turn their tables. This also looks the spot of where a lot of the Yacht/boat residents grab meals and drinks as there is a water path cut through the mangrove for those customers to get to the restaurant via a dingy. Getting here by land is a bit tricky, as soon as you enter the gravel lot drive all the way back and bear left. The parking situation is very tight and we've seen some double parking before but these spots are make up your own as the lot fills up. If you're on your way to the east side or staying on the east side this is a nice relaxing spot with good service to...
Read moreThe worst service we’ve had experienced in years. We came to Carigas island cafe on a Sunday afternoon and walking in, it was confusing and the waitresses and bartender were just discussing something and tending to themselves and didn’t acknowledge us (probably the first sign) but that wasn’t a big deal so we sat ourselves.
After a couple of minutes the waitress came to take our drink order (however we didn’t get a drink menu) so she came back with menus. And 10 minutes later took our drink order because she didn’t have her pad to take her food order.
Another 10 minutes later she took our food order. We ordered a breakfast sandwich and a Mediterranean salad with a side of breakfast potatoes. Maybe 30 minutes later our food came. Actually my dish came (breakfast sandwich) and I had to go ask for utensils and some water. After a hash brown came because they ran out of potatoes and we sent that back. Then the waitress came back to tell us she gave the salad to the wrong table and if we wanted the Cobb salad instead.
We eventually got the Mediterranean salad and there was an attempt to charge a side of potatoes which we never had. What a shitshow.
