I will start by saying the SERVICE was 5 star - but the rest was underwhelming and based on other reviews - I do believe this night (NYE 2022) was a fluke! Our first night in STT was NYE and we made these reservations way ahead of time after the great reviews and because they had VEGAN options! We also enjoy Prix Fixe dinners.

We arrived and were seated quickly - the drinks were very slow to arrive and they weren't particularly busy at 830 - in fact, we were told the "big push" was behind them. The drinks were good and the Prosecco included in the prix fixe menu was nice.

We were however, completely underwhelmed with the food (choosing both a vegan and non-vegan option) and the $300 cost was outrageous especially because the quantity and quality was a complete miss. $300 would have been expected if the food quality was present, but it wasn't and we were both looking for a snack on our way back to our VRBO - just .03 miles away. It was shared with us that they didn't receive their propane delivery that day and they were making due with a smaller solution - and we appreciate restaurant life on the island is not easy.

Several people have suggested Pangea to us across the remainder of our stay, and we do believe our experience was likely a fluke - but it was an expensive fluke and one we weren't wiling to try again...

The ambiance and food quality at Pangea are what saved this review from being a 0. I’m generally not one to leave negative reviews, but the unprofessional service we received from the waitress has warranted one. From the moment we sat down, she made us feel unwelcome and rushed. While I’m all for speedy service, every interaction we had with her was pushy as she wanted to take our drink, appetizer and entree orders within a minute of us sitting down. She even visibly rolled her eyes when asked about the specials for the evening. When my girlfriend indicated that she needed “another minute” to review the menu, the waitress took it literally and came back in exactly 60 seconds. We reluctantly ordered our food and it was good (compliments to the chef), however the waitress continued her unfriendly behavior giving us the bill when my girlfriend still had at least half of her drink left. She was extremely friendly to the tables on both sides of us to the point of which it was noticeably awkward. Lucky for her, 18% gratuity was automatically included in our bill. We are all for tipping 20%+ when it is earned, but this was unfortunately an unwelcoming experience that called for much less. Go ahead and give Pangea a shot, but cross your fingers you aren’t given the same...

If I could leave a ZERO, I would. My wife and I sat at the bar and was greeted then ignored for awhile before we ordered drinks. Once we ordered drinks, it then took another 10 mins for our drinks, as the bartender made other drinks. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip as an appetizer, which was burnt and terrible once we received it over an hour later, but I’ll get to that. Once we finally received our alcoholic drinks (she forgot the waters), she took our order. We waited… and waited… and waited… and waited… We noticed a large party of at least 10 that sat down after us was getting their appetizers. My wife eventually asked the bartender to only give us our entrees because we had been waiting for a long time. Let me mention, my wife noticed the bartender looking at the computer screen and realized SHE NEVER PUT THE ORDER IN! Let me just say, she tried to put our $40 meals in to go containers once I said we were leaving because they were “magically” ready. Not to mention, her sorry was not genuine and no manager came over to apologize or make our experience better. We still had to pay for the awful Mojito, Jungle Punch, and spinach and artichoke. The terrible terrible customer service and the avoidance we received by the bartender, gives this...

I reserved a table for my sister’s birthday. I let the person who took my reservation and the waitress know it was a milestone birthday. We arrived on time and were sat promptly. The restaurant is cute. They gave us the table smack in the middle. I recommend future groups to be sat in the corner by the lights. Service. My God it was sooo slow. It took 20 minutes to put a drink order in. The drinks were very light. I dont drink often and I am a light weight, I felt NOTHING. Not even a buzz. The food is good, but they were out of some of the seafood. It’s a sea to table experience, I anticipated way more seafood options. Nada. I ordered a dessert for my sister telling the waitress again that it was her birthday. She brought over a dessert and just placed it on the table. When I looked at the waitress she looked surprised. I was like is there a candle? “Oh no we dont have any.” What a damn waste. Would I go again? Maybe for a lunch or something. Would I recommend it for an special occasion hell no. Overall they needed more seafood, better service, candles and they need to hire an experiential consultant to train the entire staff. I get island life, island time, and chill vibes, but even if you calculate for all of that it was still a below average experience.

We went here for dinner on our second night in St. Thomas. The ambiance is casual and simple. We’d been to a fancier place the night before, and I honestly loved this place a million times better. We had a later reservation and it took a few minutes for them to seat us, but nothing insane. I had a passion fruit cocktail which I loved. I’d say the one negative l, which was for my parents l, is there wasn’t a large wine selection and the original wine they ordered wasn’t available. They called an audible though. Onto the positives, one thing food wise was better than the next. Now that I’ve been here for a week, this and one other restaurant were my top two spots for dinner, hands down. I only wish we had more time as I’d love to go back again! The veggie platter appetizer was delicious and had sweet potatoes which my mom loves. The ceviche was also fantastic. My special wahoo with truffle mash and side salad was to die for. Simple and amazing. We also got a ginger panna cotta with multi berry compote for dessert which I just loved. Can’t recommend enough!

We snagged a table at Pangea on a breezy Wednesday night, and what a treat it was! The rustic tropical decor made us feel like we were dining in a treehouse—such a unique and magical ambiance. Our server was fantastic—super knowledgeable about the menu and happy to guide us through all the delicious options. The cocktail and mocktail selection was impressive, with plenty of creative and refreshing choices. The food was Absolutely fresh and flavorful! We went with the catch of the day, which was grouper, and it was cooked to perfection, juicy and delicate. It came with two sides of our choice and we had the scalloped potatoes and pumpkins. (Wish my pictures did it justice! ) Every bite was a delight, and we could truly taste the quality of the ingredients. If you're looking for a great meal with an unforgettable atmosphere, and not breaking the bank. Pangea is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back!
