I'm giving this a two, but might try again. Our first experience was not good. Our waitress was nit attentive and same for the bar. Food was good. Drinks were good when we got them. We had reservations but got there early and went to the bar. It was about 15 minutes before we got served. It wasn't busy. Both bartenders disappeared out back for over 5 minutes right after we sat down. Then the bartender that greeted us went to the side and just did side work instead of helping the serve drinks. The one who served us was nice and made a good drink. Then we went to our table. Server came over. It started out ok and went downhill from there. She took our drink order and asked us if we wanted bread. The rest of the time, we had to get her attention to get service. We ordered an app. The app came out it was wrong. They fixed that. However, the app came out before the bread and our drinks. It was about 20 minutes for us to get 2 beers and a mixed drink. We had to call her over again to order dinner. Dinner came out it was good. Some vegetables were undercooked. The server never came back and asked us how our food came out. I kept looking around for a manager. I never saw one. They ran out of dessert. We only found out because we had to call the server over again to ask. Then one of the bussers broke a glass on a table while setting up and instead of taking the linen off tried to eyeball if he got all the glass. This would've been a good learning lesson if a manager had come over and told them how to properly handle the situation and make sure it's safe for the next patrons to sit down, but that didn't happen. I'm not sure they were even aware that he broke a glass. We heard good things, and the food was promising. It's a new place, so we'd like to give it another shot. It just needs a little attention and the...
Read moreNothing shakes the wintertime blues like going out and acting like you’re on vacation, (except going on vacation maybe).
Because of all the buzz lately, we checked out Dreo in Salem, NH this past week.
We started with espresso martini flights, we each got 3 different choices, so fun! While we waited for them, some delicious bread and butter showed up.
We ordered the Caramelized onion dip, which happens to be vegan. It comes with carrots, celery, and naan wedges. It was warm and flavorful. It went very well with the naan wedges, but we didn’t care for it with the carrot or celery (although we ate them anyway because you should always eat your veggies!). I wish there were more naan wedges with this, or maybe save some of your bread to spread the dip on.
Next we got the Seared Scallops on a bed of wilted spinach with Parmesan and mushroom risotto and lemon beurre blanc (lemon butter sauce). This was cooked to perfection. The scallops were browned nicely but not overcooked and the sauce was not “broken”.
We ended with carrot cake, which was very large and very moist. It was delicious. We also got the cheesecake flight to go for the under the weather child at home. Each one of these cheesecakes in the flight is big enough to be one dessert. I tasted them and they were smooth, creamy, and yummy. She ate them over 3 nights. Strawberry and caramel tied for favorite. Shout out to Sugar & Spice Bakery for supplying delicious desserts.
The service was friendly and helpful. There was no music the night we went, but the dining room was very loud. The waitress had difficulty hearing us, and we her, at times. That would be the only negative.
I recommend checking it out...
Read moreI recently dined at Dreo's, eager to indulge in their scallop risotto. While the dish showed promise, it ultimately fell short of expectations.
The Highs Drinks: The "happy hour" cocktails (margarita and paloma) were impeccable and complimented the meal without overpowering it Ambiance: The restaurant's atmosphere was warm and inviting, we arrived just at opening. Service: Our servers were welcoming and attentive.
The Lows Scallops: While bursting with flavor, the scallops were unfortunately overcooked, rendering them tough and chewy. Risotto: The risotto, although flavorful, was mushy and overcooked. The excessive parmesan cheese overpowered the dish, disrupting the delicate balance of flavors.
Despite the missteps in the scallop risotto, Dreo's showcases potential. With refinement in their culinary technique and balance in their recipes, they could easily elevate their dishes to exceptional heights. For now, the experience remains a mixed bag – worthy of a visit for the drinks, ambiance and service, but with the hope that the kitchen will soon...
