Gourmet Bites Catering & Cafe — Restaurant in Salem

Almost all of the other reviews are from several years ago; so something has changed. My wife and her sister had the stuffed french toast which was said to be excellent. My Irish Eggs Benedict was luke warm and very little hash on it. It came on a bagel, rather than an english muffin, as expected. The Hollandaise sauce with it was very bland. I would go back only to allow my wife the pleasure of the french toast. [But honestly, I make a killer french toast at home (which she enjoys) for a tenth of the cost of going out to a restaurant] This trip to G. Bites was more of a social outing with relatives from out-of-town, anyway. I will say that I had their food at a wedding reception recently and it was very good. We ordered food for 15 people for our wedding reception. From the very beginning, Rosey (the owner) was friendly and helpful. She gave us suggestions about portion sizes, and even gave us a tasting. This is the best catering we've ever had in our lives! We ordered mac n cheese, pulled pork, stuffed chicken breast, crab stuffed mushrooms, bruschetta, mashed potatoes, garden salad, grilled vegetables, sausage and onions, and some bread rolls. Without a doubt everyone's favorites were the baked mac n cheese and the pulled pork. We really mean it--the mac n cheese was the best we've ever had anywhere (homemade or restaurant). When it came time for them to deliver the food, the brought it on time and set it up quickly. We have nothing negative to say about them. We go to Gourmet Bites cafe for breakfast and the food is outstanding. Recently we used Gourmet Bites catering service for my daughter's high school graduation party. The food was outstanding, delicious, interesting, and the cost reasonable. The crab dip is to die for and Rosie's pulled pork is out of this world good. All the food that we ordered was excellent, the ingredients fresh and delicious and everyone enjoyed everything. Her menu is extensive and all the food is prepared from fresh ingredients and from scratch, nothing from cans. Delivery was very reasonable and all the extras - rolls, pita chips, etc. were more than enough to last. Order extra to be sure of left overs to enjoy after all the guests leave!
