The restaurant is in a small building, which might mean a wait during busy times. Fortunately, there were two open tables when we arrived, so we got lucky on our first visit. Our group of four included myself, and here’s what we experienced:
My mom ordered the carnitas, and she found it to be horrible. I tried the chile verde, which was okay but not spicy. My husband had the sope and described it as "eh." My dad didn’t enjoy his food either; he ordered the machaca. So, based on our experience, my rating reflects that only one out of the four dishes was somewhat decent. I didn’t eat the salad that came with my meal.
We got there around 11 a.m., and my mom wanted to order the pozole, but it wasn’t available until 11:30 a.m., so just a heads-up on that. They won't serve it to you until 1130. The rice was smoky and burnt, which wasn't appealing.

Read moreA local favorite! This family-owned restaurant has been in business for over 25 years. Everyone here is always welcoming and the food is genuinely authentic. On this occasion, I ordered a plate of Carne Asada soft tacos with rice and beans. The tacos were topped with homemade guacamole. I used the fresh tomato salsa offered with the free chips to give them the perfect amount of heat. They offer several traditional Mexican beverages. My favorite is Agua de Jamaica. This refreshing cold drink is a sweetened tea made of hibiscus flowers. They also offer Horchata and Agua de Tamarindo. I hope you...

From a simple queso verde enchilada (to die for!) to a perfectly seasoned & cooked asada or a combo that has both + a flauta, fluffy rice & creamy beans...you will not be disappointed. We've been coming here for years...practically anytime we pass through Salinas, this is our must stop for place to eat. There is a server who is always there...she wears her hair short, she has a husky kinda sexy deep voice...always kind & efficient but she handles the sassy customers with grace & a smile. You are our...
