Spotted this truck while on was on Hwy 101 trust and believe when say that the street they are stationed on would be dark if it wasn't for this well lit taco truck so I decided to make a detour and check it out. Not disappointed whatsoever. I ordered a carne asada super burrito. When I got my order felt like there were at least 2 burritos so I quickly took off home to see what I was about to feast on and I have to say that this is the only place that uses fresh ingredients. I mean the second I bit into my beautiful burrito I didnt get that usual taqueria always the same flavor kinda flavor you know had one had them all burrito. This one from La Paloma had the distinct flavor of freshness the kind of flavor that makes you open your burrito and I did to see the one not only thing that stood out was the avocado. Beautifully colored and ripe. In other words it was the best burrito I've had in a very long time and the best thing is that I haven't been to the restroom to make that usual deposit i have to make when eat elsewhere. Next trip over will be in the morning to check out the breakfast burritos. Highly recommended . Oh yeah almost forgot it was only one burrito I got in my to go bag. They dont skimp that's...
Read moreThe BEST!!! Freshly made Agua Frescas (I had the Cucumber /Lime) 🤩 A killer Asada Vampira (with grilled peppers & onions on the side). And some Veggies Nachos (with white beans & loads of avocado). Damn good fresh Tortilla Chips too! My partner had the Burrito al Pastor, which he devoured. He was thrilled with the red sauciness & delicious tortilla. Was driving through Salinas at lunchtime and picked a well reviewed "restaurant" from a Good Map search of nearby spots. We're from Los Angeles County and have a considerable selection of good Mexican at our disposal. Yet La Paloma blew us away! The truck is tricked out with a hand washing station, a Virgin Mary alter, floodlights, & speaker system. There's even a large passenger van parked nearby (for easy replenishing I suspect). No seating other than the curb and there's little shade at 2pm near the end of summer. Service was friendly, efficient, & bi-lingual. Salinas has designated signage for Food Truck use between the hours of 10am & 3am. Not sure the Truck is there that...
Read moreI have never been much of a taco truck fan. Based on some previous experiences that I had, I really did not feel the desire to try out different taco trucks, but la Paloma changed that for me.
This truck stands out on cleanliness, hygiene, prices, and quality.
The truck is clean and has a sink for one to wash their hands. The counter is clean and free of food residue/grease. The people serving make sure that the food is well served and presentable.
Prices are reasonable. $2 per taco. $1 canned soda. $2+ for bottled Mexican drinks. $2 champurrado.
The quality is superb. The meat tastes fresh and the salsa is tasty with the right amount of kick. My personal favorite is Tacos al Pastor--fried marinated pork and my wife's favorite is Tacos de tripa--fried to a delightful crisp. I especially enjoy the use yellow corn tortillas. Yellow corn tortillas enhance the flavor of a taco. Add a little of a crisp to it and the experience is greater.
This will be a taco truck that I will visit if I am...
