Audio Express — Local services in Salinas

I originally gave these guys a 5 star review shortly after they installed a new sub and enclosure for me but after having problems with my setup and confronting them about it I decided to try and warn others on shady business tactics they use. I paid $400 for my setup/install so I wouldn't have to deal with the headaches and problems that come from doing it myself. The sub started cutting out about 2 wks after the install. Left town and returned about a month later and stopped by the shop to have them check it out. Immediately they blame it on my amp. Saying "it looks old". Even though the light was clearly on. They tell me to make an appointment and to be prepared to buy another amp. I am than told there would be a service charge of $60! FOR FIXING A PROBLEM THEY MADE. They then tell me on the phone a few days laterthat they can give me a nice amp package at a discount saying they were sure it was the amp and that they'd seen this hundreds of times before. Well sure enough after looking inside the enclosure myself. the connections from the terminal cup to the sub had come loose! MY AMP WAS FINE! Took my car to another shop and had them fix the connections to properly make contact with the terminal cup so they wouldn't come loose again. Beware...

Great place. Got a powered sub and some speakers installed. The work took a bit but I rather wait a bit and get a clean install than fast sloppy work. The owner and his staff are super friendly and chill. They answer any questions you have. The price was slightly high but for the quality of work and service I think its fair. After the job I failed to notice that my power locks didn't work with my key fob . Took it back the next day and the owner was super cool about it. Said it's probably a loose wire (It was). My wife and kids surprised me with a system in my truck! They were on a budget but Junior took care of them (and me of course) he thought it was cool they were doing it for me so he went out of his way to make it work! I have not personally met Junior (my bad) but I will soon.....to finish up my system!
