Bring vasoline! Typical pawn shop. Lies, fake stuff, whatever to get your $.
I came in to see about buying some of their scrap silver to repair some of my chains, and was strategic about the way I went about it. I first asked if they bought silver - yes. Do you resell or scrap - scrap. Can I buy some of the scrap clasp rings out of your scrap? - uh . . . Uhh, the jeweler isn't here, why do t you buy one?
I did happen to be in the market for a new chain, and worked out a deal for a chain and bracelet that was satisfactory. However, I wear a silver pendant with my father's ashes in it in my chain, and it needed a bigger ring to fit the larger chain. They told me they have a jeweler, to come back and he would take care of it. I specifically asked if he would solder this ring so I wouldn't lose the pendant. They said "of course, he's a jeweler". Well, I happened to be by another REAL jeweler in Watsonville before their "jeweler" would be back and had it done.
However, the bracelet they sold .me kept coming off, from things as simple as taking off my shirt.the clasp ring had a tiny gap. I kept putting it back in, and noticing the ring had a lot of spring to it. So, I went back here to salinas pawn on a day they said the jeweler would be there to see if they would solder the clasp ring. They gave it back, and they had just used pliers to clamp it better (which I could have done). I asked why they didn't solder it and they said he couldn't. A jeweler that can't solder silver? I can solder silver! I just don't have any silver solder or a good torch.
Come to find out, the springy-ness the ring had was significant - just as I thought. The clasp ring wasn't silver, hence why the jeweler couldn't solder it.
-luckily the rest of the bracelet is silver, but just serves as a reminder to not do business with pawn shops. They're sharks. And they're in the business of doing bad business. That's the...
Read moreThey were completely unprofessional and tried to take advantage of us being in a bad situation. They falsely appraised my very expensive and flawless Electric Guitar and was only offering me $50 on a $1400 guitar. He stated he used Ebay prices to come up with the value of the guitar but when I researched the same guitar it was selling for upwards of $1200 used. I asked him to show me the proof and I realized he was looking up a completely different way cheap guitar of the same maker and was trying to con me into getting a sweet deal and a very expensive musical instrument. He had no idea what he was looking at or doing. I have worked with other pawn shops and never have I almost been ripped off like Salinas Pawn Shop tried to do! Stay away and do business anywhere else because they clearly are taking advantage of their communities poverty issue. Awful Place and should be shut down for unethical...
Read moreI had a great learning experience, the staff is very helpful and informative. They explained the full process of a loan and how they base the amount they loan you. Like most people I walked in thinking my item is worth top dollar easy 1000 and hoping I would get half since I payed over 800 for my open box laptop on sale at Best Buy, they explained and showed me I could of purchased that same macbook for half of that price online and on top of that they had the same laptop for sale for only 400. I know people sometimes leave the pawn shop upset because they don't understand but after knowing exactly how it works i learned 3 things. One, never pay retail because you can alway pay less online. Two, how a pawn shop benefits you and three, you're always guaranteed a better deal if you buy straight from the pawn shop especially if you get along with the guys, they make you...
