McDonald's had just opened at 5:30 a.m. when my husband and I stopped to get breakfast for the day. We had been on the road all night and just got into the Salinas area (our destination), so we needed a short respite. The new order screens were up and working, but a very friendly young woman grabbed us and offered to take our order. She was so pleasant, kind, and helpful, it made ordering easy and even fun. We sat down and talked only a few minutes when our order was ready. It was fresh and hot and even smelled delicious. Our orange juice was cold, and the meal was brought to us at our table. My only complaint is that McDonald's is still using single use straws--and customers aren't asked if they need or want a straw. This practice is extremely wasteful and bad for the environment. For this reason, I reduce their 5 star rating to 4. I also noticed other types of plastics in use, here. Read moreFries were very good, tables clean, but floor was littered with food and filth. As I entered I noticed some squished fries at the door that looked careless and a dangerous slip hazard and I help my mother walk around and between them. I notified the manager and she put a yellow sign about a yard away and a few minutes later the floor was mopped, but when I left the squished fries were still there.
I'm amending review after later visit.
Even though their soda machines are broken, even though that's why we came in, I'm adding back a review star.
The store is now clean, counter well attended.
I ordered a large and a small $1 soda from the Coke Freestyle machine and when the counter tender asked if we'd like ice, I noticed temporary signage that both Freestyle ice makers were down. Read moreI always order mobile pick up, trying to make it convenient for me and my 2 small kids, but they have been times they take forever to bring the food out. More than twice, I've had to go in after checking in and waiting for an extended period of time. Yesterday, I waited over 15 min after checking in. I walked in and saw the order on the counter and other orders being delivered to tables. By the time I got home, the fries were cold. Next time, I'll just go through the drive through even when lines are long.
The last time this happened I waited over 10 min. I went inside and the food was on the counter. I could no longer check the status of the order on the mobile app so I was worried it was no longer available. I asked the worker if it had been sitting there the whole time and asked if the fries were cold. She just said they could replace them. It's a hit and kiss, sometimes...
