Panda Express — Restaurant in Salinas

Do NOT support this Panda Express!! They refuse to give you a few extra pieces of chicken if you ask...which is against corporate's policy, and they do not give 10% off to veterans and first responders.

The shift leader lied to my face about the discounts. I am a first responder, and I showed my ID and asked for 10% off, and she refused and said that they do not give discounts to veterans. She claimed that no Panda Expresses give discounts which I pointed out was a lie, then she said Panda Expresses in California do not give discounts to veterans which I also told her was a lie, and then she went on to say that their specific Panda does not give discounts to service members. I know she was lying because I used to work for Panda Express, and it is in Panda's handbook to give discounts to first responders. This location is good for late night , but only drive-thru is open. I mostly use the app to order ahead & usually I’m able to get in and out within 5 min or less. Interaction with employees are pleasant and friendly. Depending on the time of day if you dine in can be really busy , although others might not tend to clean their area when done eating . I do clean my area when finished eating & usually the staff is good about cleaning up the dining when need be.

Only suggestion is that their fountain drinks aren’t consistently good. On multiple different visits to this location , the sugar in the soda is very minimal. It’s as if you’re drinking carbonated water with a hint of flavor , so I don’t get drinks from This...

My food was very dry. The chow mein tasted as if it was from the day before and re heated. The teriyaki chicken was dry with no flavor of any sort. If it's called teriyaki chicken, shouldn't it taste like teriyaki? The orange chicken was over cooked as most of it was crunchy and not soft the way it should be. The only reason I gave one star, was because I was greeted and taken care of immediately. Other wise I'd select no star. They need to cook the food to customer's delight, not their own.
