Winchell's Donut House — Restaurant in Salinas

It was ,when I was going through some rough times,me and my lil 4 yr old we're homeless,I decided to go buy my daughter a donut and milk,to make her happy,and decided to wait for a family member to pick me up there,it was late already , but I felt safe waiting there with my child,my phone had died I needed to charge it,and when my child needed to use the restroom,she was able to.I was so thankful,finally my family picked us up.i went back a few days after to try to thank the wonderful lady cashier that had been so kind to us,and she was busy so I left.afew minutes later I went back,I tried using the restroom before I was able to go thank her,but the restroom was locked,but it seemed no one was inside.so I went and asked the lady to unlock it,and poor lady,I swear I never meant for her to get in trouble by the owners,she told me she would unlock it but to not take long there or in the shop because owners had not been happy with her,for letting me and my child be there the other night. I said "don't worry mam,I had a housing problem that night,but I no longer do and apologized for getting her in trouble,but also thanked her very much for that night.so I go use the restroom,I took my daughter inside with me,when I came out to my surprise the owners 2 of them,(males) had arrived there,and they were already making a big deal out of her letting me use the restroom.and it looked like to me they were talking really bad about me. I don't know their reason for that, but I want to let those 2 fellows know they are very cruel and wrong and also very cold hearted for judging me the way they did,they made me feel really bad,cause if anything I thought to myself,they should of felt proud they were able to give shelter to a homeless single mother and her child in a timeof NEED!!!)....

I have been there a few times in the past few weeks and may I say it was Bad and I mean BAD!!! The employees are very Lazy especially the ones working the Night Shifts. They claim their toaster doesn’t work. The donuts are Good, but not great. Sometimes it is clean, and sometimes it is dirty. For example I walk in and there are crumbs and coffee stain on the table. What surprised me the most when I stopped by around 10:00 PM and the Employee was very rude, I waited for 10 minutes just for 1 donut and a Mocha Cappuccino and while I waited she chatting/Laughing with another Customer for a long time and when I got my Donut and Cappuccino turns out she Gave me The French Vanilla flavor instead of Mocha. Stopped here on the road, would recommend. Helped quickly and lots of options. The person working was very nice. I can only speak to the donuts but we enjoyed. Cappuccinos are from a machine but pretty good all the same. Prices were decent too. The bathroom was clean and not locked, gender neutral.
