This restaurant is frustrating. I want to like it but cannot. The food is good and reasonably priced but I've only had The Caribbean Yellow Curry. My issue is with the service. Our waiter didn't seem to have any training or a sense of etiquette and didn't seem like he enjoyed his job all that much. He doesn't smile and uses street talk which doesn't work for me in a nice setting. He brought my water to the table tucked into his armpit and extracted it by grabbing the rim with his fingers and placed it in front of me. I was so stunned and when he noticed the look on my face, he reacted by saying, "You wanted water, didn't you?" He was clueless. He must of had a hard time carrying too much at once because after that, he brought one dish at a time. I asked about the type of wine they had because it wasn't on the menu and all he he said was, "we have red or white." I could go on and on in detail but overall, service was just strange. Our table was prepped for four but there were only two of us and they didn't take away the spare placemats or silverware that were rolled in a napkin. It makes me wonder if they were left for the next customers. You might have to experience it to understand my frustration. It just didn't feel all that sanitary and the waiter was not enjoyable. Below is my old review from when they were located in Old Town with the original owners. Great food! We haven't tried one bad dish so far. Loved them all. The hot and sour beef, orange chicken, and jasmine rice salmon with vegetables were all very tasty. Friendly...
Read moreMy coworker and I went to have lunch at this place. It is only couple blocks from our workplace. We got there at 12:10 pm. As soon as we got to the place, I observed only 4 tables of 2 people each having lunch, the rest of the place was empty. We wait for about 5 minutes to get a table and get acknowledge from the waitress. We sat and another 5 minutes till another waitress that we never thought he worked there, took our order. The time was 12:20 pm. The waitress took several minutes to bring our drinks and then our soups and then the condiments. For the amount of people at the place you expected the service to be faster now that all these people were already eating when we got there so how come we got our meals at 12:55 pm. And when we looked at the clock, we asked the waitress that we need the food to go and he said and I quote "you place it in a To GO box" so this man, brought me the food to the table and then a box to place my meal when we told him to put them to go and belive me he was not nice whatsoever!!!!! I got to my work late. Anyways, food was DISGUSTING! There is no other word to describe it. It's basically eating noodles with lots of oil and flavorless. I got a very orange watery peanut sauce which did not help at all nor the chilli sauce or the soy sauce. It was very very very bad dish (Pad Thai). Just a few minutes ago, my co-worker told me "hey I did not like the food. I threw up and it was gross." Never ever will come back to this place. What a...
Read moreYangtse's Taste of Thai was really good!
I was greeted by a quirky, cut-to-the-chase waiter who helped get me seated and in preparation to order. Because of the nature of Thai cooking, it can be quite spicy to downright hot; with this, the waiter made sure the level of spice I ordered in my meal was of a good assessment.
I was quickly brought all that I ordered, which consisted of Crispy Orange Chicken, a small white rice, and a Dr. Pepper. Everything was great; I got the chicken 3/4 spicy-it was tasty and not overly salty. The rice was clean and sticky, if that makes sense. The soda was refreshing and crisp. The plate was served with a type of dipping sauce which was excellent.
In addition to a delicious meal, the staff was courteous enough to ask how I was enjoying it. They also take great pride in their establishment by how the approach the cooking and desire to maintain high fidelity through how the chefs are selected and trained.
My first experience here was thoroughly enjoyable. I look so forward...
