Caribbean Island Cafe — Restaurant in Salisbury

Very disrespectful to my mother ! We ate here once last week we order African Green , when we opened our plate once in Charlotte,NC . There was no greens at all more rice and meat and cabbage that I didnt ask for . Other than not having greens the food was very tasteful ! My mother writes an review expressing that she & I didnt receive any greens of course what she paid for . We later decided to give the restuarant another try ! We decided to stop by Monday of last week soon as we walked in the door he " sucked his teeth and quoted to his cook those are the black people that wrote that negative comment " when actually all we said we didnt get any greens but food was tasteful . After hearing him quoting that to his chief I ignore it until he asked my mother why did he write the comment instead of calling, that's what wrong with black people. If it was an white restuarant you guys would of never wrote an review . Hes very disrespectful, cant take criticism . And the fact that you think it's a color thing , weather if a person is black.blue yellow green if the food is not what I ordered and review will be place I think that what YELP AND GOOGLE is for . I went last Saturday to get just some jerk chicken, beef patty & coco bread well first off they charge $15 for 5 pieces of cut up chicken which in essence makes maybe 2 whole pieces of chicken before being cut so I asked for oxtail combo plate which is $34. In total I spent $45 which was an absolute total waste of my time and money! The oxtails were sliced as thin as cold cuts, they were not tender at all and they had no flavor, the jerk chicken taste like regular grilled chicken absolutely zero jerk flavor, the coco bread was hard, the beef patty was hard. To top it off I originally called to see if they had roti she said no then after I received my order I asked when they will have roti again she said “oh that was you that called we have roti, the girl said we didn’t but then came back and told me we did” I would have never wasted my money ordering all that food if they knew what they were talking about but the curry chicken roti I wanted probably would have tasted horrible as well. I love this place! The food is delicious! There hasn’t been anything that I have tried that I wouldn’t eat again. From oxtails, to jerk chicken, brown stew chicken, even curry chicken and goat (which I would have never thought I would like 🤷🏼‍♀️), it’s always delicious! They have assorted patties that I suggest trying as well! My favorite is the beef or curry chicken! You get a lot of food on the plate. I always have leftovers for the next day! 😋

The staff here are one of a kind! I have never walked through the door and felt unwelcome. They greet us with a smile, and know what my fiancé is getting before he even tells them! When the staff of a restaurant conversation and makes you feel as though your business is appreciated, it makes you want to come back all the time!
