Monsieur Crepes — Restaurant in Salt Lake City

I have to say, I'm really surprised this place has a high rating. I have lived here about 3 years and have always wanted to try it, especially after reading the story on the website. So, one day recently I went it. I could not have been more disappointed. The people were nice, but the quality was not good at all. The filling was not cooked well. Semi raw mushrooms with other items not seasoned and very bland. The ingredients tasted a little funky and just not at all professionally prepared. So I felt like it was money wasted. They put a bunch of puffed straw type chips on top, like what you would take from a cheap bag of grocery store chips that a child might eat. It was bizarre to me. They are not healthy or tasty and a very odd thing to put on top of the crepes. So, I did not get it. I personally would not go back because the food was just not good in my opinion. My husband and found this place on accident after our usual brunch spot had a 40 minute wait but we couldn’t be happier! They were busy but there was no wait and the service was timely and very friendly! We even had our 10 month old daughter with us and they had two high chairs. The food. Oh my god the food was divine! I had the Versailles, a savory crepe, and I was completely blown away. The ingredients were so fresh and perfectly balanced. The prosciutto in this crepe was honestly some of the best I have ever tasted. The crepe its self was just ever so slightly crispy on the outside as the finishing touch to a perfectly made dish. Then I had the Louvre, a sweet crepe, and this was also very well balanced, but this time the crepe was nice a chewy and soft. Everything was on point. Update review: Wow. I have to post an update. My last review was the first time I had been. I have now been back several times, and I am never disappointed! I usually get the Champs-Élysées, but my friend had me try a bite of the Monmarte she got, and WOW. I am now also immersed in the world of savoury crepes too! I've now tried L'Originale and Moulin Rouge as well. Every single time we come, they knock it out of the park. The meats are done perfectly, they use the perfect amount of toppings, their cream isn't too sweet and doesn't overwhelm the fruit flavours.... C'est magnifique!
