Skillet delivers on creativity and presentation in a way that’s genuinely memorable.
We were greeted warmly by Ciara, who was so kind and welcoming from the start — the kind of staff interaction that sets a positive tone for the whole meal.
We shared the Breakfast Tower for Two, which was a total experience. It was such a spread we had to pull up an extra table just to fit it all. Every level was layered with house-made cream cheeses, sauces, and unique flavor pairings — a sampler lover’s dream. It felt playful, elevated, and worth it for the variety alone.
My wife ordered the Florentine Benedict and we both agreed it was excellent. The house-made hollandaise had a subtle kick that made it stand out, and the balance of flavors was dialed in.
One fun contrast: the waffles were topped with a variety of high-end sauces — I especially loved the pistachio — but then you’ve also got classic tater tots on the same plate. Surprisingly, they worked! Lightly fried, salty, and comforting alongside all the crafted elements.
The space itself is upbeat and modern, though it’s worth noting the inside ambiance doesn’t quite match the outdoor exterior — a bit of a contrast, but not in a bad way. We also tried the fresh-squeezed blackberry and passion fruit juice, and it was exactly that — fresh, flavorful, and a perfect start and end to the meal.
All in all, Skillet offers a fun, vibrant breakfast that feels like an occasion. While I probably wouldn’t return weekly, it was definitely worth the visit, and we’re...
Read moreFirst time (out of town) visitor to this place. Took my family here after seeing the great reviews and was curious about their breakfast selections and close proximity to the Univ of Utah campus. What I offer to the reader is perspective; take it with a grain of salt or come to the restaurant and judge for yourself. The restaurant is situated along a busy street that is both residential and small businesses-several businesses look like they were once regular homes and gives the true community neighborhood vibe. Since we arrived for brunch, we expected a wait but it wasn’t that long-expected 30-45mins but was closer to 20-35mins. The dining area inside is like a house-“dining room” in front of where the seeing counter was; tables by and behind a built in fireplace and even a few people eating on counters where a window should’ve been. Our server was Ash-she’s spectacular! Made us feel welcome and attentive to us as first timers. Wife and younger son had the Classic French toast; my oldest son had the burrito bowl and I had the bacon sandwich. There were other dishes we wanted to try but felt it would’ve been too much. Each dish we had was delicious; the French toast has a nice smooth syrup; the burrito bowl had fresh shredded beef and my bacon sandwich had a horseradish aioli that was surprisingly good (not a big horseradish fan). Bottom line; worth the drive/walk/uber to go to this place for...
Read moreOur party of two was greeted by a friendly hostess and we were seated right away. We were seated at a very small table, I would estimate it was 18 by 22 inches. This is absolutely bare minimum space for two plates of food and personal effects. This table was located in the upper area between the bar and a railing mounted table overlooking the entrance. An additional small was behind ours. The clearance on three sides was about 12 inches. The moral to that story is lots of incidental contact. The most annoying thing about the clearance was that it forced the waitress to practically stand on top of you to take your order. She towered over us and repeatedly reached over our table and drinks as she pointed to items on the menu. The food was overpriced and bland. Even though it was only 0900 in the morning, all the ingredients except for the eggs were lukewarm and dry. We had the breakfast burrito and the lumberjack skillet, each coming with about a tablespoon of the “famous” green sauce served in a little plastic cup. Additional sauce was available at extra cost. Plain drip coffee was $4 a cup. Speaking of coffee, every time you cut your food or leaned on the table, your coffee would spill. This was caused by the narrow spacing of the table legs on an uneven floor. It is disappointing to leave a restaurant regretting that you spent over $50 for a simple...
