I'm not the type to post reviews but I feel the need to bring attention to our experience at this labeled 4+Stars Restaurant. Let me begin with, we are not from San Angelo. Now with that being said to the lady who assumed the role of the hostess, it was obvious that you were filling in for the actual hostess based off your crappie attitude. First you failed to greet us upon arrival and after standing in front of you for what felt like the longest uncomfortable few minutes you unhappily asked "how many". When I answered 3 you simply walked away without saying a word. Thankfully the young lady who walked up around the corner told us to go ahead and follow you. Does it kill you to smile and be polite to the customer who picked your restaurant out of all the options on Google? I have the feeling that you are either the manager or owner and if that's the case let me remind you to, Lead By Example. Next, the chips and salsa consisted of tasteless, watered down diced tomatoes served with old chips. GROSS. Now for the famous "White Sauce" hmmm, where do I begin!?? If you like ranch with a side of water then this is it. What the heck is it supposed to be?? And I mean that wholeheartedly. Why not call it ranch with a splash of water?? I wouldn't even have that with my salad. My Dos XX Michelada was decent. The only reason I gave you A Star on Customer Service was due to our waitress whose name I believe was Cassie, she was good. I hate that we had to bail on her but let's just say the white sauce was the cherry on top of the horrible decision to eat here. We asked for our ticket and cashed out. We will gladly take our hard earned money elsewhere. 4+Stars on this mediocre place is definitely false advertisement. TO THE FILL IN HOSTESS: DO BETTER! Picture below is the so called...
Read moreI know what you’re thinking, this guy is nuts. First impressions are everything. It was also my first time in San Angelo. 6 July Tuesday 4-6pm. 1 Star (Sit Down Service)- was for immediate attention to customers. The minute I sat down, I observed one waitress for the entire bar section. Oh, and it was Happy Hour. No bartenders either. A party of 3 sat down and immediately got waited on by some random older lady. Within minutes they had a lady making guacamole for them. I observed two guys sitting down waiting as well. Finally, one older couple, the older man turns to me and says “You’ve been waited on?” I said Nope. 15 minutes went by. He got up to complain to one of the owner’s son. I could hear him scolding the waitress for not tending to the other customers. She was standing at the bar supposedly waiting for her drink order. Except there was no bartender. Finally here comes the waiter.
3 Stars (Waiter) - Panchito was his name, nice kid. Very apologetic and tried to make things right.
3 Stars (Food) - Tres colores plate (See picture). Now, I was pretty hungry and I’ve been the military. I don’t waste food even when it’s not that good. Rice tasted a little old, like it was sitting in a pan all day long, dried, crispy burnt rice, and not very flavorful. Refried beans were tasty. The chicken enchilada was probably my favorite out of the three. Beef, not so much. The enchilada sauce was bulky with chunks of tomato, like almost something out of a can. Cheese enchilada was okay.
Again, I don’t waste food, and I ate it all. So there you go. I might go back to give them another chance for service.
The older man, that stood up for me said that they are normally not that bad in service....
Read moreBy all accounts, Henry’s is considered a local mom and pop shop. It’s not a national chain. It’s just here in good ol’ San Angelo. However, you’d be hard pressed to find another restaurant in town on the scale as this one. Henry’s is extremely popular and by far, one of the biggest restaurants in SanAngelo. It’s so popular, you might have to park in the parking lot across the street or a couple buildings down.
Once inside, you’ll realize just how busy the place is, but not to worry, the wait line usually moves very quickly. Henry’s is worth the 10 minutes that you might have to wait.
Once seated, you’ll be greated with some of the best staff in all of San Angelo. I’ve never had a bad experience with any of their staff. They are all very friendly and extremely professional.
Henry’s has one of the fastest turn around times from the moment you place your order until your food is put on the table. You might wait 10 minutes for your food. They are extreamly fast. Fast usually means that there’s a compromise to your food, but not at Henry’s. Their food is some of the best food in town. Excellence is their passion and they have mastered it.
I’ve eaten there hundreds of times over the past 20+ years and they have always been one of the best restaurants ever. You won’t be disappointed. Even if you do a take out order, the quality is the same. Simply outstanding.
One final note. Whether or not you eat in the restaurant or not, get some “white sauce”. You pay a little bit extra for it, but it’s so worth it, especially with chips instead of the usual salsa.
If you like Mexican food, Henry’s is the place to go....
