A year ago I had rated this place 5 stars all the way. The food and atmosphere is still 5 stars. However the service is really lacking. We arrived at 4:30pm and it was on a busy St. Patty's day night. We expected some wait but not what we actually experienced. First waitress was great and checked on us regularly as much as possible with the crowd. She told us it was time for a shift change and asked us to cash out with her. We were ready to order food but paid out with her thinking the next waitress would be there soon. She was not there soon and actually never came to our table. Our previous waitress came by to pick up her tip and we asked her then how much longer it would be and she seemed surprised we had not seen the new waitress yet. The new waitress finally came out took our food order and my husband's beer order. After awhile she came back out to ask my husband what his beer order was because she had forgot. After waiting awhile longer our food finally came out but was missing toppings that the menu said was included on the items plus our modifications. Modifications being missed is completely understandable but things listed on the menu I feel should be there unless otherwise specified. My husband had to go to the bar to ask for the missing items as well as napkins and silverware. The waitress saw him asking for items and got irritated and told him and the bar tender she was "working on it". After another long wait we finally received the missing food items and silverware but never any napkins. When she brought them out though she hurriedly set them on the table and left. We finished eating and never saw her again. We waited for awhile for the check but finally cashed out at the bar. I was never offered something to drink once I placed my food order. Worst service I have experienced at Shenanigans and possibly San Angelo. I get with holidays especially St. Patty's day bars will definitely be busy. Three hours for food orders and two beers for two people still seems a little...
Read moreMy wife used to be a huge fan of Shenanigans food. Yesterday was her birthday and she wanted take out from Shenanigans for her dinner. She called the order in at 7:55 pm and they told her it would be ready in 20 minutes. I showed up to the bar/restaurant at 8:18 pm. I know that because I called my wife to find out what name was on the order. I went up to the main bar and the bartender could not find my order. Another person was called over and they found it and I paid for it, almost 75.00. I was told that it was not ready yet and I could wait at a table and it would be out shortly. I received my food at 8:38 pm. I was pretty upset at that time for having to wait and asked the person who delivered my food why I had to wait for so long for a called in order. The rude young man told me that they had multiple large tables that had ordered before us and their food had to come out first. I asked why they told my wife that the food would be ready in 20 minutes if that were the case and he shrugged his shoulders. I took my food home and we received what we ordered, but it was terrible. We had ordered 2 ribeyes, 2 extra orders of sweet potato fries, and a mac & cheese for our daughter. (That was all she wanted.) The ribeyes were supposed to be 1 rare and 1 medium rare. What we received was 1 medium and one medium well. Neither of the steaks had any sear on them and they were over seasoned. The sweet potato fired were good, but it looked they had cooked normal portions for the steaks and put them in 4 containers to make it look like 2 extra orders. The mac & cheese was no where the quality of what we used to get. It was under-cooked and what looked to be Velveeta mac & cheese. I am pretty sure that any other restaurant in San Angelo has better mac & cheese. Never again will I ever step foot in Shenanigans for any reason, and I hope others take this review to heart. I was made to wait for terrible food and the service...
Read moreI'm not a drinker, but friends and I kept hearing about the great food and at Shenanigans -- and I heard a radio ad that it was a family restaurant until 9 p.m. So Friday night, my bff, her grown daughter and I decided to try it. Food was fantastic. I had the pork chop with potato salad, which was wonderful. My friend had the steak bits, onion rings and a side salad and the daughter had chicken tenders and mashed potatoes. We all sampled each other's dinners and liked everything. Well actually, we thought the beans which we ordered as an extra side were a little spicy for our personal tastes, but I'm sure we're in the minority there -- we heard from staff the recipe has won awards at cook-offs. We also learned the owner smokes all the meats on the premises and the recipes are his own -- so the dining experience is unique and good. The live band was a little loud, but when we go next time, we will sit in the other dining room. Finally, my friend's daughter tried three of the drinks and liked everyone. We will go back. I'll also keep Shenanigans in mind the next time I want to watch the NBA or NCAA playoffs. Their big screen TVs are well placed, and even as a tea-totaller, I liked...
