Alta Mar is an amazing hole in the wall in the Helotes/N 1604 area, take it from the guy who used to deliver seafood wholesale to this location periodically. I got to see the back of restaurants and the front of everyone we deliver to in the San Antonio area, so this place is definitely one we decided to eat lunch at after a delivery.

Amazing Paella dish here you won't be disappointed!!! Hard to find a real Paella 🥘 like this one anywhere. The fish tacos here are excellent (fried), and the complimentary mix of tostadas, salsa, and ceviche to put on them is a million times better than just standard "chips and salsa," the salsa verde is super spicy 🌶️.

The bonus points for Alta Mar is that they give huge portions on their plates so bring your appetite or be ready to share! Super cool stop and they now have their TABC liquor license on premises since the previous times I...

I wanted to like this place, but I just didn't. The food was good, but not great, in my opinion. The shrimp cocktail was not my style, more liquid and cucumber than a heartier Clamato based sauce? I know it's a regional thing, but it just wasn't for me. On to the caldo.... full of seafood, but not flavor. The broth lacked something like the cocktail did. My wife was happy w her "paella" although it just tasted like Chinese fried rice 🤷‍♂️ kids dishes were ok. Shrimp and pasta was a small dish but enough for my 9 yr old. My son got the regular fried fish and shrimp plate. It looked more impressive than it tasted. A little heavy on the batter. All in all, good portions, but I just felt it was lacking in flavor. Probably will not be back as there's another option nearby...

This place is a FRAUD. I went there ordered to go fish for $11. I paid with my credit card. Then they claim it didn’t go through. So they told me to pay with my card again. I said it did go through it said transaction complete. Then They all started talking in Spanish. So I opened my credit card bank online to check and they didn’t only charge me, they charged me $4 more than $11 plus tax! I told them and instead of apologizing they were upset! They refunded me $4 but I will report this to the county and BBB. I called cops but I can’t wait for them I need to go back home. Don’t go to this restaurant. All they want is your money, they...
