Delicious Tamales — Restaurant in San Antonio

I was raised & born in SA, but moved to Houston 50 yrs ago. Whenever I visit SA, I always go to Delicious Tamales on Culebra. Over the yrs, the quality of the Tamales went from the best in Texas to just a thin piece of masa with about 20 % meat. Well, December 18, 2023 I was in SA. I was craving a taste for tamales. Not aware of places with good authentic Tamales, I went to Delicious Tamales. I was shocked at the price for: 1dozen pork $11.25 1 dozen chicken. $11.60 Tax $1.89 AND A 3% CONVENIENCE FEE $.69 Total $25.43 I still made purchase and was craving to start munching on the chicken tamales. What an absolute total disappointment. Taste like pure masa (very minimal chicken) and flavor was missing. Ruined my Holiday spirit for tamales. I've always gone to Delicious Tamales to buy tamales for our church fellowship gatherings however I was SO DISAPPOINTED in opening 3 out of 8 dozen tamales that several tamales were so small the size of a pinky finger. And as expensive as they have gotten, you would think that the tamales would be a little fuller? No, they are not. But, someone is not doing their job right. The tamales should be inspected to make sure they are being done right and stop cheating people from their hard earn money and giving them half tamales. The owner, or manager, should make sure the people hired know how to make tamales. I don't think I will be getting any more tamales from this establishment anymore. The tamales weren't the best but that's not what made me not like this place. Oneday I took a good older friend of mine their. She hadn't been there in many many years. When she was telling the manager about how she used to love going there when she was younger the manager was very rude and inconsiderate. I could understand if they were busy maybe but we were the only customers, and now I know why. It made me want to leave immediately but I knew my friend really wanted to enjoy the food from her younger days. Hopefully this company will learn to treat their customers with respect.
