SAN ANTONIO RESIDENTS DO NOT COME HERE!!! DO NOT EAT HERE PLEASE! ITS TERRIBLE, GREASY, AND OLDER LADY WITH GRAY HAIR IS A SARCASTIC RUDE LADY! SHE WILL FORCE YOU TO EAT THE FOOD NO MATTER IF YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!! If I could leave this place negative Stars I would. I'm Hispanic and I know what Mexican food is. I ordered the enchiladas mexicanas and they microwaved queso fresco and had grease poured all on top of the beans and rice. When I asked an older lady that worked there if I could order a different plate she straight up told me "NO". I wasn't asking her to take it off the bill. I wasn't asking her to take it back and bring me something else in place of it. I never told her that I didn't want to pay for it. All I said is that I wasn't content with the way that it just looked and that I've never eaten them like that before and if I can eat something else. She did not allow me to eat anything else she told me no eat the enchiladas that's how we make them and then she started calling me puppy names. I'm a grown adult and I feel like it's sarcasm when an older woman comes and calls me puppy names. When I told her I didn't want the enchiladas can you please take them away she offered to wrap them up so I can take him home with me. I believe she might be one of the owners or the manager. The enchiladas were literally unedible. I've eaten many Mexican enchiladas and never have I had any that were floating in grease. I only wanted to order something else but she would not allow me to she would not allow me to do anything other than eat the food that I didn't want to eat. She kept telling me no and no she wouldn't do it and no she's not bringing anything else and to eat that. She literally told me to eat it! The bill was over $60 for food I didn't even eat. There's no way for me to speak my mind and get people to see the true colors of this restaurant and this lady the only way I can do it is by leaving reviews. I hope this helps somebody before entering this place beware. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!! SAN ANTONIO DO NOT...
Read moreWe were at 5 stars until we got the check.
I realize there is inflation going on right now. However, no one wants to be 'nickel and dimed', plus, if you have a huge sign that shows the price of an item, LEGALLY, the business is supposed to honor the advertised price.
We ordered a Margarita, some beers, the hot wings, street tacos, a gordita and a couple waters. The food was good.
The wings were hot, so the sign was accurate there, and the plate looked exactly like the picture on the 5 foot x 5 foot sign. What changed when we checked out was the price. Apparently they are not honoring the $13.99 price posted on that 5 foot x 5 foot sign. It's a large sign. It is clearly marked with the price, easy to read, as is the picture of the food. Maybe not 5x5, but still, a large sign. Remember those waters we asked for... they were brought in To Go cups. I didn't give it much thought until we checked out. We were CHARGED for those To Go cups... that we DID NOT ask for. We simply asked for a water. We did however ask for To Go plate and cup for charro beans. We also asked for lids to take our sauces home. We were charged for the cup, the plate, and the 3 lids. If they're charging for each To Go item, I'll bring my own water and containers, which if I knew there was additional fees, I would've done.
I realize that in total, we were only charged an additional $2.25. That is not the point. The point is that they are not honoring posted prices and they're charging for things we didn't ask for. And her response... Prices are subject to change. This was our first time going, which we told the waitress. This restaurant is not in our way or area. The service and food wasn't THAT good. So, I'm not sure if we will...
Read moreThere are TONS of Mexican food restaurants to choose from on this stretch of Culebra. For some reason this one was calling me to it, and I wasn’t disappointed by answering its call.
This place has plenty of menu items to choose from and lots of specials.
On this visit, I decided to tackle the reasonably priced mini taco special. It was $6.99 and included three street tacos with your choice of meat and charro beans. I went with the al pastor tacos. The pastor was wonderfully marinated, very tender and had no chunks of fat or chewy pieces like you might find elsewhere. Try a couple of bites of it before you put the cilantro, onions, and chile on your taco - IT. IS. THAT. GOOD. Speaking of tacos - the corn tortillas are fresh and tasty as well.
Final thoughts on the food - the charro beans - OMG! They’re so packed with sabor - really! I almost enjoyed the beans more than the pastor. The beans had chunks of ham, peppers, and onions in them. These beans are so good, they should have their own Twitter account. I’d follow it if they had one.
They brought the green chile with my food and although it was tasty, it wasn’t very spicy.
Service wasn’t the best in the world, but they were very friendly and treated everyone like family.
Additional notes: Family owned and operated They have a drive thru They’re open 24/7 Very spacious - lots of tables that can be pushed together for groups They have a full bar - it’s separate from the restaurant, and I THINK they...
