Fred's Fish Fry — Restaurant in San Antonio

I don't know why I love this place so much, but I been eating it since I was a kid, only when i crave it, I think the buttercrust bread and the fish go great together with the tartar sauce and french fries with the lemon slices, it just makes my mouth crave it more, if you know what I mean about food that makes you think about the past... Once I get it out of my system I'm oK for a while, but I like the fact that they make it fresh everytime once you order it, it's never old always fresh and it stays hot for a long time in the Fred's fish box that makes it look so homey, such as comfort food, if you know what I mean about homey, comfort food and feeling at home, I recommend buying the bigger tartar sauce and more lemon slices, plus more buttercrust bread, I never eat the shrimp there, because of the price, but it looks good I think I tried it once or twice, maybe more, but not all the time, maybe when I was younger I ate the shrimp, but I like my little set-up with the Fred's fish box, it's good and...

Misleading Menu and Poor Customer Service

This was our first time trying Fred’s Fish, and it ended up being a huge disappointment. We have a large family and were really looking forward to their "Family Deluxe Deal" advertised on their online menu. It clearly said the meal came with 18 pieces of fish, large fries, and a large tartar sauce — all for a decent price.

But when we got to the store, we were told it only comes with 15 pieces for the same price. No large tartar sauce was included, and the meal only came with one small order of fries — definitely not enough for a family.

When I brought it to the clerk’s attention, the only response I got was, “Well, I don’t know what to tell you.” No effort to make it right or even acknowledge the issue. Extremely unprofessional.

By the time we ordered extra sides just to make up for what was missing, we ended up spending almost double what we expected. All based on a misleading online menu. Not a great first experience, and we won’t be...

I had this issue with this location before. Before they recently changed there closing time from 11pm I would come to place a order around 10pm and find out they are already closed this happened on a couple of occasions. Now today 2/12/2025 at 9:30pm I stop by to place a order and come to find out they are closed with a manager only on site. I go inside to try to order and he tells me they are closed they now close at 9:45pm I say I should still have time to order given it's only 9:30pm he's say everything is turned off. I ask him why is he shutting down everything early and says that he needs to finish cleaning and other stuff by 10pm because they don't pay him after 10pm.. I told him you still need to take orders till 9:45 the time y'all close. He say " are you going to pay me for staying after 10pm". I find this to be poor...
