Order the cat fish and shrimp plate. To my surprise, the plate comes with popcorn shrimp which was disappointing because I really wanted to eat shrimp. I have ordered shrimp before and it's regular size. It was listed on the menu as catfish and 8 shrimps with no indicatation it was popcorn shrimp. When you order shrimp it's listed the same way, just shrimp. How is one to know that you're getting popcorn shrimp with your catfish? I asked to speak with a manager and they said she was on break so I asked to speak with her after her break and they told me she would be done in ten minutes. Ten minutes came and went and I was already finished eating. I went to the counter and there she was off break but I guess she was not intending to speak with me. She explained that the platter comes with popcorn, shrimp and that when she is at her register, she lets her customers know. I told her that the cashier at the register did not inform me of that. I asked her how she was going to resolve the issue. She said that there was nothing that could be done, and she could refer me to the corporate number. She would not take responsibility in regards to management & how the people at the register should be trained to notify customers the difference between platters with popcorn shrimp and platters with actual regular size shrimp. The person at the front register was sweet and kind and checked up on us and asked if everything was okay and that's when I mentioned to her the issue with the shrimp. Other than that, the service and food was a disappointment. I live a few houses up the street and I have been going there for years. The customer service and dealing with that manager has always been awful. For example, they would sell you a refillable plastic mug for a refill discounted price, but when you go there to request to have it refilled, they charge you 50 cents for a to go order. Even though you have your own mug, and you're not using their Styrofoam cup. You actually have to tell them that you're drinking it there and then I guess you can walk out so that you don't get the 50 Cent charge. Go figure, Same manager for years same callous and indifferent and...
Read moreMy family and I have been giving this place business for a very long time and tonight that business has ended. I bought the family fish, one extra order of fries, stuffed jalapeños, 5 extra pieces of fish, and the fried mushrooms. I placed this order over the phone and I asked the employee that took my order to repeat my order, which she did, everything was correct. I get to the place and the employee rings in the order. I look at my receipt and I noticed that I wasn't charged for the extra 5 fish, so I asked her if they were in the order and she said no and she had to charge me for it, which is fine, but she didn't have to give me attitude. I come home and I start opening the bags and I notice that I'm missing the gravy for the mushrooms and a container of tartar sauce. So I go back, I understand people make mistakes and I was okay with that. I go in and Janie (employee) asks if I've been helped and I tell her that I was just in and when I got home I noticed somethings were missing. She continues by asking what was missing and I tell her (gravy and sauce) and she tells the cook. The cook tells her that everything was in there because he's the one that took care of it. I tell her that the gravy was missing and that we usually get 2 containers of tartar sauce with our order. She tells me that I WOULD NEED TO BRING BACK THE BAGS SO SHE COULD CHECK THEM! All while making it seem like I was dumb for even asking her about the second tartar sauce. That's when I told her that we usually get 2 for the amount of fish we order and the cook, who hasn't gone back, tells her that it's only for the 20 fish order and that every time we got a second one we were charged, we weren't, and that's what she tells me. I got 17 pieces of fish and that's exactly what I told them and they told me it didn't matter. They were incredibly rude and I asked Janie if she was the manager and she said yes and I was honestly so surprised since she was being so rude. In the end I left with a small container of gravy for a full order of fried mushrooms, no second container of tartar sauce, and $50 dollars less all for bad service and...
Read moreToday we drove from our usual Jay Anthony diner to another location off of General Mc Mullen because our usual location was temporarily closed. So you can imagine how disappointed we were to have had such poor service. First we were unable to call in our order despite attempting 4 different times. Still this mild inconvenience did not deter our choice for dinner. But then our food came out and though it was kindly taken to our truck, we were lacking the items that came with our family pack. Naturally we get out to speak to the older lady who just took our order only to be told we hadn’t ordered the extra items...fries, coleslaw and tea. After I pull up the menu on my phone to show what the family pack came with, I’m told I didn’t order that. So we make our first trip back to our truck for the receipt since we have to prove what we had literally just ordered. Meanwhile this older lady holds on to our receipt while we waited for her to take .. yes ... a phone order she says bring me the food. By now my husband and I are just thinking about this time ... why not right. By now our order of food has gone from the restaurant to our truck, only to be taken back into the restaurant where our food leaves our sight into the back of the kitchen. Having our food handled this way left me cringing imagining what the restaurants sanitation policy’s are during this pandemic time. There wasn’t an apology for first saying we didn’t pay for “that order” no apology given for not knowing their own menu or for taking our food back to do what.. get audited.?!.. there was no apology for our wait or inconvenience. We’re in hard times. We have to make decisions on where we choose to risk eating out. I will not come back to a place that has our food traveling to and from vehicles. And we will not be choosing a restaurant that devalues...
