I had really high hopes for this place and have been anticipating it's release for several months now thanks to how convenient the location is for me. I joined a friend of mine and we both got omelettes, the fried deviled eggs, and tried the mimosas, but the quality just wasn't there.
The food: The quality of our food was about what you'd expect if your college buddy invited you over for dinner. Not bad, per se, but on the opposite end of what you'd expect from a restaurant. We started off with deviled eggs, for these the presentation was good, the flavor was alright, but didn't stand out enough to order again. The omelettes are where things fall flat. The eggs didn't taste like they were seasoned and both of our omelettes were over cooked. Mine was a bit dry, they let the eggs cook hard before they folded it, but my friend's omelette was cooked until it was visually clear it was overdone. Even if the cook made their first omelette a week ago this should have been fixed with basic criticism and a little practice. The hash browns were cooked, but the cook didn't allow them to crisp up and the portion size was small. I don't get this, potatoes are cheap. I wouldn't complain if the portion size was the only thing, I don't need a lot of potatoes to enjoy the meal, but they're a cheap way to fill the plate. The last part was the toast. Nothing was wrong with the bread, but it was toasted very lightly, there was barely any color. These are very basic quality control issues that should have been addressed as part of the soft opening. I don't have any criticism of the quality of the mimosa, they were as expected, however the price was high in relation to the standards of the meal and the restaurant itself.
The atmosphere: Generally I typically overlook just about everything as long as the food is on point, but it was not. I only mention this in a review because there was significant cost cutting done here that's not being passed on to the customers. The finish work on the build out is sub par, it clearly wasn't done by a professional carpenter, it's more like a home DIY project. The furnishings were on par with what you'd expect in a typical taqueria.
Service: pretty decent, we were both happy with the service we received.
Overall it all comes down to price vs value. The prices here are on par with a nice brunch restaurant, about what you'd expect for the area, but the value isn't there. If they're going to focus on mimosas and compromise on food then the furnishings and atmosphere need to be what draws people in. To bring value to the way this was executed the prices would have to drop well below what is likely sustainable for a location like this.
I do want to see this place succeed enough that I will be back after they've had time to hire an experienced chef. If the quality issues can be fixed I'll become a...
Read moreI walk in like yes the atmosphere was giving the love who you love feel. since there was a wait to be seated, I went ahead and looked over the menu so that by the time I was seated, I would already know what I wanted. So when they finally called my name to be seated at my table, the waitress came over and I told her I already know what I want so I put in my order for My Southwest eggrolls as my appetizer and my mimosa and I told her as well for my order I wanted the omelette, the all meat omelette add spinach with a side of fruit . So I sat there I received my mimosa in my appetizer. As I sat there, I was there for an hour, and I still hadn’t received my food, but the ladies that were sitting next to me they came in after me had received their food so I motion for the waitress who hadn’t came back to the table didn’t even offer me a water And let her know that I still hadn’t received my food so the manager came out and I told her as such and she went back to look you know to see what was going on with it and when she came back, she said that they took my food to the wrong table. So by this time, I’m like I have to be somewhere by a certain time and I had got there at one and I didn’t get my food until 230 so she discounted the food I didn’t get it. I didn’t get my fruit because they said they had ran out so the lady next to me gave me hers because she said she didn’t order it. So no, it was my first time going to this place. I have been wanting to try it as I did. It was all about the experience Which I was not pleased so I will not be going back there. The food that I did get the appetizer and they gave me somebody else egg and sausage was actually pretty good but as far as the customer...
Read moreSuch high excitement to try this place and what a bust! Got sat outside. Got windy and umbrella top broke off. We had to catch it before it hit my wife’s head. So windy that my son and I had to hold the umbrella top. So it would not injure ladies sitting at table behind us. After holding umbrella for 3 minutes - Although top broke, cord was attached still I asked for scissors. So we could lay it on the ground. Manager would not do that and wanted to salvage umbrella vs guest safety. They had two kitchen guys come out and take out umbrella at base. While still holding umbrella my had was injured and pinched as they removed it. We asked to move inside. Staff seemed disinterested in moving us or apologizing for what happened. There were 4 open tables inside. Food came shortly thereafter and we had to ask to be moved again. They seemed pissed about that. Food came and then a table was open. We moved our own plates and drinks. Food was a disappointment. My wife had chicken and waffles and had to wait 10 minutes for syrup. By that time chicken is dry and cool. I had breakfast tacos-tortillas were dry and crunchy like they had been exposed to air overnight. Servers had no team work and seemed untrained and unknowledgeable. Total disappointment and disregard for guests and safety. Hope my hand...
