First off, I most definitely tried my best to clear my plate but my stomach was TOO full! Also, CASH ONLY, so stop by the ATM before you go. Now this place is most refreshing for getting some damn good barbecue. Of all the years out here in San Antonio, I haven’t found not one great bbq spot (until today that is), and usually they’re all just meh, or extra mediocre. No real flavor or personality put into it. This spot though? Most definitely beat them out the water and for the price??? You’ll leave FULL AND HIGHLY SATISFIED. Affordable. Great portion. Great taste. I highly recommend the ENTIRE menu. Just give it a try. If you’d like a real great sample of the meats, go ahead and get that 4 meat / 2 sides plate (and it’s only $18!!).. and yes the potato salad is damn delicious! You won’t be disappointed. The peach cobbler??! Immaculate! Oh! And make sure you get that sweet tea! Cause when I tell you it’s southern down home perfection in ya mouth, that’s just what I mean! Keith was sooo pleasant and his service was quick, the atmosphere definitely gave cook out with ya fam playing dominoes and spades while the little ones run around having a time! There is a reason they got 4.9 stars..let’s get em’ to 5! Thank you Keith for your excellent service and your magnificent cooking. I want to make sure you serving us up EVERY time! Cause you threw down! And I most certainly cannot wait to come back! Oh..and please hurry and start selling your sweet tea in gallons!..I’m telling you, I’m...

Good to great food. Great service. Great Price. Good atmosphere. Cat. Been here twice now. The food and service are way better than what Mr. Smith is charging; maybe it makes sense for the area, I don't know, I just started working down here. Kansas City style BBQ, and generous with sauce, the brisket is some of the best I've had in San Antonio. The sausage, ribs, and chicken are all good, too. The ribs and chicken are impossibly tender and juicy but not much smoke flavor (I wish there was more but it's great if you prefer a faint smoke). The potato salad is the best I've ever had, and I grew up in northeast Georgia! It's nice and tart with plenty of pickle in a way that's hard to find in a proper balance. Green beans and baked beans are good; creamed corn is nice but a little too sweet for me. The whole experience reminds me of home so I might be a little biased since it's personally refreshing. The atmosphere might be off-putting to some; it's simply an extension of the neighborhood and that's that. You're in the right place, just go order where it looks like you should order! The guy taking orders and serving up is friendly in a straight forward way, which is (again) refreshing if you lack that in your day-to-day. There's also a cat sometimes that chills by the tables waiting for scraps, which is a...

I recently tried Smith’s BBQ food truck and, while the man working was really nice and welcoming, the food left much to be desired. As someone from Mississippi who loves dry rubs, I was disappointed to find no option for that, and instead, the brisket and ribs were drenched in what tasted like bottled BBQ sauce. The sauce was overly sweet and lacked the depth of flavor you’d expect from a well-made BBQ. The portions were fair for the price though.

The sides were another letdown—both the green beans and baked beans tasted like they came straight out of a can with little to no seasoning. BBQ sides should be fresh and flavorful, not something that feels like an afterthought.

The sweet tea was also a strange experience—it tasted more like lemonade, which wasn’t what I expected at all. If you’re offering sweet tea, especially in the South, it needs to taste right.

One thing to note is that the food truck is located in what seems to be an abandoned lot, so we weren’t sure where to park at first. Some clear signage might help improve that part of the experience.

Again, the man running the truck was very nice, and I appreciate the effort he put in, but there’s definitely room for improvement in the food quality. This isn’t to bash the business—just some constructive feedback on how to make...

Excellent no-frill BBQ spot slightly tucked-away off the busy pass. The menu is simple, four types of meat (five, if you count their signature Turkey legs); with varieties of sides to pick from. To sampled all of the protein form the menu I got the $18 four BBQ with two sides option; they might place all in one box for you to carry to go, but each piece of meat stood out from another. The rib was the highlight in my opinion, meats gently glides off the bone with the crunchy cartilage intact for each bite. The brisket holds onto its integrity as you bite on, you can certainly get all the flavor of the meat while retaining their texture. The sausage are cut into a fair sized to match with others, while easy to pop into your mouth, esp each bite you can still feel the sweet snap from the link. Now the chicken is where you find the highlight of the smoke; personally I would prefer the white meat to be moist and extra juicy, yet I am gladly exchange them this time for the welcomes smoked note experience. Certainly a spot to recommend for when the BBQ craving kicks in! Say hi to the chef for me :)

First thing's first, this place is cash only. If you're not someone who usually carries cash like me, make sure you stop and get some before you come here 😂. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Keith, who is incredibly kind. I'm a bit of a picky eater and don't eat pork and he was nice enough to work with me to recommend items on his menu I'd enjoy. This is good, old fashioned bbq. The portions are huge. I had Brisket, potato salad, green beans and peach cobbler. I enjoyed everything, especially the peach cobbler. I'm not normally a huge fan of peach cobbler, but I was craving something sweet and I'm glad I did! They must put cream cheese or something in it. It was such a nice combination with the peaches and cinnamon. When Keith handed me my platter, he said "are you ready for the best bbq you ever had?" 😂😂😂. Definitely make sure you stop by! The other reviews are spot on. This place is simple, but delicious.
