A relatively short review. (My readers know I tend to over share, so key word relatively!) Had it delivered, so can only comment on the food.

I have had a lot of Texas Barbecue. Was an obsessive follower of The Texas Monthly Top 50 for many years, have been to most of the veteran winners all across the state. This is being shared so that readers can understand I have high standards for barbecue.

.5 pounds Brisket, almost always the star of the show. Some moist and tender pieces, some more dry. Some marbling, not enough. 6.5/10.

.25 pounds Pork Loin. Also inconsistent. The worst pieces were overcooked and even burnt. A couple did have good flavor and tenderness. 5.5/10.

.25 pounds Pork Ribs. Aside from some parts too chewy, the sweetness and rich flavor was actually very well infused. Could have used maybe a little more moistness, but excellent nevertheless. 7/10.

Pint of Macaroni & Cheese. Not enough cheesiness or flavor. Bland overall. 3.5/10.

Pint of Pinto Beans. Smokey Mo's advertises these as "award winning"? What awards? As good as a seasoned can of HEB beans. Granted, HEB has some quality food, but still. If I can get it from a can, it isn't that epic. 5/10.

Pint of Roasted Creamed Corn. Now, these should be "award winning"! The right amount of sweet to savory. The additional parsley and parmesan cheese are perfect choices. 8.5/10.

Mo's Original Barbecue Sauce. Has a distinct tone tinge of spiciness. Not too much, but I would call it more spicy than sweet. Not usually a huge fan of barbecue sauces- camp you shouldn't need condiments when the meat it good enough- but it was a nice addition, better than average. 6/10.

Complimentary bread, onions, pickles, as expected, no complaints- in fact, the pickles were actually fresher and maybe even higher quality than average.

I know inflation is inevitable, but around $40 all said and done feels very high for what was given, and since barbeque is always on the higher side for a casual meal, the quality needs to be high, too. No room for average when they are charging this much. Too much average and good enough from Mo for me to...

So I was craving bbq seen this place was on my way home and decided to give it a try. Didn't have high hopes As so many restaurants here in San Antonio have let me down. Did walking up to the restaurant there was no smell of bbq in the air. Once I walked in there was a faint smell One table had 4 people ans another table has 2 people. And There were A Couple of people waiting on to go orders so I ordered my food I absolutely hate the tip question at the end I decided not to tip it was my first time trying this place out of if itwas good I'd be back and be glad to leave a tip. Ordered the 2 meat plate chopped brisket and Sausage a sy disease were pinto beans and potatoe salad. On the way home there was no smell of the bbq radiating its way into my car. Once inside I sat down to enjoy my meal. First bite was the chopped Brisket that tasted like Salty Charred Meat, thank onto the sausage which was just kielbasa sausage it was chewy definitely not impressed at all!.Next the sides the beans were good needed more seasoning but not bad. The mayo based potatoe salad was OK I loathe mayo based potatoe salad I grew up on mustard based.. Anyways ate about half.. You get bread, pickles and onions and Bbq sauce. I.guess once you have Franklins Bbq and Terry Blacks BBQ both in Austin You compare every bbq place to them.. So safe to say I won't be going back.. That Brisket needs a major...

I ordered two breakfast tacos, one of them with the tortilla CRISPY, apparently the person who tooked my order was the manager named José R. I repeatedly asked him to make it CRISPY TORTILLA, we'll, they didn't do it, maybe because I didn't tip. Why should I tip for a To Go order? Nobody tooked my order at the table, nobody served my order at the table! We need to stop tipping for everything everywhere! Just pay your employees fair enough, we're not responsible for their wages, we are already paying excessive prices everywhere. But going back to my point, I didn't get my tacos the way I asked. I'm very disappointed and will never come back!!! *Response: Thank you for your prompt response, I have to admit you guys have a great Social Media team, aka Community Manager -not like your Store Manager-, making up the story about the tips. I had no need to go back to the restaurant and tell them about the mistake, I realized right away, you can ask the young man who handed the order to me, but he replied that they don't do that because my food might take longer to be ready. I wish your manager said so when I ordered. So I told him to let his manager know about my inquiry but nobody said they could fix my order, so I walked out. You can check the video, they just didn't care because I didn't...

DAYUM! I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that today's Brisket sandwich was the BEST Brisket sandwich I've had in my almost 43 years of life. The place was spotless and the guy at the counter (Daniel C.) taking orders was great too, he had a friendly and welcoming attitude which is always appreciated, so thank you for that! I ordered a single meat Brisket sandwich and asked for it marbled. I know it's always a risk asking for that because sometimes people just don't really know what that means and you end up getting dry Brisket with a layer of fat on top, that's not marbled so I was hoping for the best, but anticipating that I might not really get what I was hoping for but damn was I SURPRISED. This sandwich was WOW! Whoever was working on shift today 4/13/25 at 3:50pm...they gave me what I was hoping for and I was not disappointed. I've been to several different Smoky Mo's and this has been the best in all ways by far. Again, best Brisket sandwich I've ever eaten. Now I have FOMO cause this is gonna be hard to beat! Keep up the great work, thank you!!!
