Where do I begin? Let's start off like this. They have the best tacos in the west! I really mean that. My son and I have been going here since he was I diapers and he's going to be 10 next month. We both love the picadillo tacos. The meat is just darn delicious plus the size of the taco really makes it one of our top favorites. The meat has flavor and not too much juice that's why they are so awesome. I always order two for me and one for Jude. Next up we have to mention the true classic. Bean and cheese with 🥓. Another top favorite and this one is always done proper. It's as if they put extra 🥓. OMG. Just thinking about it makes me wish they stayed open later in the day. I only order this taco Jude doesn't care for it. Lastly is going to be the potato and egg with cheese and yes I said cheese. It's such a nice mixture. Plenty of egg and a decent amount of cheese. I don't know but their eggs are just done differently. They are super good and nice and plump. The inside of the restaurant is cafeteria style. You have to wait in line and you get to grab a tray and then you actually get to see what you are paying for before you pay it. I wish I included a photo. It's like a long row of all kinds of different types of foods that you can choose from. One day I went with my sister and she asked for a sample. I had no clue that they offered samples. That was totally new to me. You follow the path until you come up to the register and you pay then select your table. People are always ordering even more food from their table it's non stop. Restrooms is very small it's about the size of a tiny closet which is big enough for one person at a time. Sometimes parking is a bit of a hassle because you can't seem to find a spot. There's always high volume of people but that never stops anyone from attending. Tacos Martinez is always a treat to eat. I enjoy my entire day after a...
Read moreFood's not as good as years past now, yet Martinez creeps his prices up, almost $5 per taco now! Martinez is getting grouchier by the year. Viejo got on our case about my having potatoes with my huevos rancheros plate which apparently he doesn't include with that plate, as if i did it deliberately! The genius and his daughter who's also just as smart (LOL) turned off the menu screens prematurely because it was almost closing time, so we weren't aware of the plate not including papas when I ordered it. We waddled over to our table to complain about the papas in front of several other customers! Then his daughter came a few minutes later with the plate (sans papas 🙄) and had the same attitude as her feo ol' man! Their whole tone was as if we were trying to steal from them! Mind you we had just paid $35 worth of food, so for them to have this tone was egregious and excessive! $8.25 for a huevos rancheros plate without papas? Really? Name another restaurant that doesn't have papas with huevos rancheros. Go ahead, I'll wait. There ain't any other restaurant in town that does that! And to charge $8.25 for it? It's pure greed! No wonder i stopped coming here years ago. Everyone do yourselves a favor and go to rocky's down the road. $4.99 huevos rancheros WITH papas 🥔 & bacon 🥓! Plus the service is wayyy better than grumpy and his...
Read moreNot even they eat there, lol Yeah... I went through the hoops of getting in line, ordering, getting a table, and trying to eat, and in my opinion, this is by far the worst restaurant. I ordered a tripa Taco and a bean and cheese. i understand the tripa is a hit and miss taco for a lot of places, but the bean and cheese who can mess that up .??? Well, this place can ! With cold beans and the unmelted cheese that its kind of white and fuzzy ready to turn this food is GROSSEST I've ever tasted in my life and I grew up in San Antonio so ive been to alot of places in town and lot of people praising this place that it's the best and the food is great I'm sorry y'all need to get out of Old Highway 90 and try something else because that is not the best I'd prefer Taco Cabana or even taco bell over Martinez Cafe needless to say even the bus boy said yeah nobody likes these tacos as I handed both of them to him to throw away as I walked away with my cup of soda Just FYI try El guacamole on Highway 90 and Montgomery or even tamalitos on South Callahan or even Garibaldi Mexican on West Military or even Mony Cafe on Marbach just to name a few but for real folks leave the little comfort zone of Old Highway 90 and explore what's out there and live alittle because in the end everybody dies but not everybody...
