Been a customer since 2005. I even got my 91 Chevy Pickup truck broken into in the parking lot by the wooden fence in 2007 when I was a college student at Palo Alto College. In 2012 we stop going to Tommy's Restaurant because my stepdad had a stroke and gotten sick from his heart. Later he passed away in August of 2017 we took it very hard. Later that same year we came back to Tommy's Restaurant in November where I met Cristina, Cynthia and Erica. I had my eyes on Cristina the most. Sorry to put it out there. When Cristina left before Valentine's Day in 2018 I started showing up by myself to the restaurant when no one wasn't paying attention to my table just sitting and waiting for a long time and it started to continue more and more like they were ignoring me on purpose. Where it all started writing on the reviews[Move Over] Appreciate what the waitresses do. Sometimes I tip the waitress a $5 dollar bill with a πŸ’ just to make their day more easier. I got the idea from my stepdad when he would make football shape out of dollar bills but instead I changed it up a bit and just put a ring on it. And for some reason if the waitress don't like the ring, they can pass it on to someone like the iron rose. It won't hurt my feelings or neither get upset about it. Just wanted to make their day more easier and be happy to...

AND YET ANOTHER GREAT ONE FALLS.... We have been coming to this Tommy's for roughly 5 years now and it has falling down to one of the last places me and my family will eat. The prices keep rising, the building has not gotten a single improvement, parking is horrible and the food save for the carne guisada with cheese have gotten progressively worse. $30 for three people is crazy!!! If the building was remodeled, ceiling tiles replaced, restrooms fixed up then maybe I could accept the price increase but all it looks like is they are taking advantage of their constant customer base by hiking up the prices. We ate there this past Sunday and sat for 5 minutes before we were helped and that is because I had to flag down one of the wait staff. Our drinks were never refilled and we were only asked how things are while the waitress hurried passed our table. A run by check in if you will. I've said it before but I feel this is the final and official time....I WILL NEVER...

I wish that I had taken some pictures but I did not. I ordered a country and sausage plate and it came out brunt. When I had asked the waitress if the kitchen could make me another plate she took the plate back and the told the kitchen to make another plate. It literally took less than 2 minutes for the second plate to come out and the eggs were watery and running. The waitress was real nice about everything when I told her that I just wanting to leave because the second plate was not even eatable. I am new to this neighborhood and I have eaten at this place 3 times in the last two weeks. The first time I ordered the Mexican plate and the it was decent, the second time I ordered the Caldo and it was terrible, the beef was all fat and seem like it was cooked in a pressure cooker, it had no flavor. When I came here for the third time that is when I ordered the country and egg plate. I give up on this place. The food is...

The absolute only reason I'm giving this place a four stars is because my food was slightly undercooked. I took a couple of friends from out of state to this place and it was my first time here as well, I tried some of their food and it was really good. It didn't taste undercooked at all, I did mention it to my waitress but nothing really happened, I didn't get a refund or a replacement plate even though I was told I would. didn't want to make a big deal so I just let it be. However, the food that my friends got was really good. I'm pretty sure if my food was cooked all the way through it would have been just as delicious. With all that being said, I see myself coming back here and giving it another try and maybe they can get the five stars that they deserve. Definitely recommend checking out this place, don't let my experience hinder your decision.

I stumbled across this location by chance, "the original", as I'm always driving past the one on San Pedro. Didn't know there was more than one! Delicious homestyle Mexican food in a very comfy atmosphere! Servers were all very friendly, welcoming and attentive. Ordered the Enchilada Combo with carne guisada (other options beef/chicken fajita, steak a la Mexicana) and wasn't disappointed at all. Although guisada tasted a little more like pot roast, it was not bad, just different. Enchiladas were filled with ooey gooey American cheese and rice had tons of flavor compared to most. You have to try both homemade corn & flour tortillas...so soft and pillowy! Will definitely be back to try same plate w steak a la Mexicana.πŸ‘

Tommy's has several locations in San Antonio. The restaurant was recommended by front desk personnel at our hotel. This location is small, but their service was amazingly good and food was delicious. Our server, Anna, was so sweet and kind to my parents. She is the nicest waitress we met during our entire stay in San Antonio. Their food is fresh authentically Mexican/TexMex recipes. We enjoyed their "puffy" tacos, menudo, handmade tortillas. Their food tastes better than most Mexican food you'll find at the tourist traps close to downtown San Antonio or at the square. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘. I highly recommend this place for authentic Mexican food. (Unfortunately - no desserts except packaged cookies from a bakery)
