Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in San Antonio

I recently visited this location 2 days ago & the whole experience is not what it used to be.. There were 4 teenage black girls running this store with to believe no manager in the building, and not to mention 3/4 were not in the tropical smoothie cafe uniform but one in a dark grey t-shirt and jeans, another in flare leggings and a black jacket, and the other two in one in a black jacket and leggings, and the other in a grey jacket and jeans. I waited behind a teenage asian boy in line to order and i believe his name was ryan as the girl on food approached him and said he can take a seat and asked what he wanted he replied a blimey limey and took a seat. She then proceeded to help me as i was next in line, i placed my order which was a açaí berry boost with fat burner. after placing my order and standing to the side of the bar for 15-20 mins for 1 smoothie. i get asked if i was picking up an order i replied with no then was asked what was i waiting for i replied with an açaí berry boost with fat burner they start building my drink and i asked if they added the fat burner the girl with a broken arm replies i thought you said energizer. i told her no it was fat burner. she rolls her eyes and remakes my drink not to mention i don’t see anyone wearing gloves. then the asian boy who ordered the blimey lime his drink is now ready as he at the register to pick it up which i thought was weird and one of the young girl gives him his drink and he says here, and he goes for real i don’t have to pay, she then states no i comped it just don’t tell anyone. now as that is all happening i am being asked for my receipt and told that the fat burner was not charged on my order and i replied to her that’s what i ordered im not sure why the girl didn’t add it on if she added my military discount as im looking at the receipt. she went over to the cubical of metal containers they have and showed me a spoon and said this is the fat burner which looked to be a powder substance which was yet again weird when they used to be pills that the workers would have to open and pour the substance in the smoothie.. i just said okay being that it’s been 20 mins for 1 smoothie now. my smoothie finally got blended and handed to me and it was not smoothie consistency it was watery and was lacking flavor as well. This location never used to be like this when an old manager that moved to medical center named sydney was in charge. The owners chewma and his wife really need to get involved at this store during the 11am-2pm hours especially with these groups of girls because knowing them and the old management this would not slide as it is no appropriate & sanitary when operating a...

I placed an order online last week and waited 30 minutes before going to pick it up. I arrived and still waited an additional 22 minutes and it was nowhere near done. There were so many unhappy people waiting for their orders and other people coming back to have their orders remade as I witnessed while waiting. I informed Sidney I didn’t have time to wait and that I would be back later for my refund. I called later that evening because I didn’t have time to go back and spoke to Sidney again and she told me that I didn’t have to go back in the store to get my refund because she had all my information and that she would let the owner know so it can be done that night or the next day. I went in today to request my refund because it hadn’t been done. Sidney clearly was patronizing stating that “she thought she made it clear” over the phone that she couldn’t do it online? I was a bit confused because she stated previously that she had all my information, but she wasn’t clear stating that SHE wasn’t allowed to do it and that the “owner” needed to do it. I told her to just give me a coupon so I can redeem elsewhere. I had been coming to this location for 2 yrs, 3-5 times weekly! This location has had horrible customer service since the other manager Roman left. I would have left no stars, but I had to leave one in order to leave this review. I placed an online order for a reason, so I don’t have to wait! It wasn’t like I ordered food to have to wait almost an hour. It was just a shake. The refund wasn’t a big deal, but it’s the principle of the whole situation. In addition, I was a loyal customer and she knew me by my name and then to turn around to patronize me about her being clear was very disappointing. This was the final situation to make me stop coming here. I will no longer be spending my money here and will travel further where they appreciate...

Place was nice great presentation. Location was easy to find. Service was well... everyone who worked there was probably in high school with the exception of the manager he looked to be maybe 23. My experience with younger people working SERVICE INDUSTRY is usually always bad since most don’t seem to really care. So to be blunt the service was bad and the cashier didn’t know a thing she had to ask the manager everything ( he was in the back ). They don’t accept bills bigger than $20 and that’s fine. However, they should post what they accept and don’t. The do have the logos of the credit cards they accept but no mention of not accepting bills bigger than $20. Okay so now the food... the food was gross my wrap was loaded with sauce. When I say loaded with sauce I’m talking my paper wrap was falling apart due to the amount of sauce these kids put on my wrap. To think I came here to eat better. My girlfriend had the Rice bowl. It had basically no rice but it was loaded with lettuce. The kale apple slaw was actually not bad but I’m only judging this on how bad everything else was. Smoothies did come out fast but the fruit was not ready to be consumed so it was a blend of sink water and funny tasting fruit. To conclude manager Noah needs to be trained on how to be a manager because it’s very apparent he has no idea what he is doing. All the staff actually needs to be trained on how to do their job again based on the fact that the only pros to this place was a nice basic environment with rap music blasting at full volume with profanity in the lyrics but it rap so I don’t expect anything less but I do expect more form the person who chose to play this music with kids in the building.
