I came in with my dad, his girlfriend, and my friend today and our waitress, Lorie, was extremely rude. At first we were greeted by her and she was very kind. I liked her from the start because of how sweet she was. She messes up our order pretty bad and has a pretty hard time typing the order into the system (which is 100 percent fine because it seemed that she was training and I blamed the restaurant for not giving her the correct training. I understand completely on simple order mess ups and taking some time on the machine too because I have a job similar and I understand the difficulties.) Although my dad and his girlfriend are very conservative and got a little frustrated by having to repeat their order multiple times, I remained kind and polite to make up for their frustration. This is not why I am complaining, however. Our waitress sat inside for every moment she was not helping us talking to another coworker, which I again do not care about. When my friend walked into the restaurant from outside to ask where the restrooms were, she points to my friend, says “that’s him” as though they were talking about him and then they laugh. When he came up to talk to them, they got serious and remembered they are at work and need to be professional, not gossiping about customers. I cannot think of anything my friend did but let me order for him because he got his braces recently and is embarrassed of his new lisp. When he came back from the restroom he was insecure of how they were talking about him and laughing. He was 100% sure it was about him and that the content was negative, so I was very upset. So when the waitress came back (after 20 minutes, the entire time sitting inside talking to her coworker), she comes back out and I ask her about it. I asked politely because it could have been anything. She denied even saying that at all, talking or laughing with the coworker, and got defensive as if I am insecure of her talking about “my man”. Again he is my friend and not my boyfriend, and I couldn’t care less if she thinks he’s cute or anything. I just care if he is talking about my friend in a mean way. And she was. The food was okay, a little overpriced, but it would have been better if she wasn’t being rude and talking bad about customers behind...

Read moreMy family and I have been regular customers here for months, but tonight was the last time we’ll be back. The service and food quality have been steadily declining, and tonight it reached a breaking point.
I had friends in from out of town and recommended we eat here because of the food and the kids’ play area. Unfortunately, the experience was embarrassing. From the start, we weren’t greeted — only side-eyed while staff argued about who would take our table. The food was disappointing: soggy onion rings, a soggy burger that tasted like it had been sitting out, and a $13 brownie sundae that came out with a rock-hard frozen brownie under melting ice cream.
Honestly, that would have been forgivable compared to what happened next. While we were inside eating, my children were near a display plane that clearly hadn’t been secured (with an open toolbox and drill left beside it). They touched the nearby window lights, and that’s when I overheard a manager say, loud enough for us and others to hear: “Those fing kids are messing with the fing lights. Yeah, the fing kids are fing with the lights.”
When I calmly asked her what she said and invited her to speak directly with me if there was an issue, she doubled down — repeating, “I didn’t say anything TO YOU. TO YOU.” Her tone was hostile, her body language aggressive, and she continued glaring as we gathered our things to leave.
Profanity directed at children is unacceptable anywhere, but especially in a family restaurant. What made it worse was her attitude when I tried to address it respectfully. A manager should set the tone of professionalism, not hostility.
I’ve been a loyal customer of Tycoon Flats for years, even since the St. Mary’s location, but this crossed a line. If this is the kind of behavior the restaurant condones from management, you’ve lost not just my business but likely many other families who value respect. No parent should ever have to explain to their children why a restaurant manager just...
