My husband drive 1.5 hours to eat here. It may sound crazy but it's THAT good! Plus there are other things to do while we're out in S.B., Yaamava's just down the street . At The Mexico Cafe there is ample parking but may be scarce on peak days and times. Although there are nearly endless tables/booths available at this place, they are usually occupied so the wait for a table could take longer than planned or expected so be prepared to wait for a table during peak times. The service is usually very attentive and friendly, we've never had a server here who was in a foul mood, who had a negative attitude or who was rude, great service and food is what you can expect from The Mexico Cafe, tonight we had Denise C. as our server and she was great, true service with a beautiful smile! Thanks Denise!!! Their other location in Temecula also has great service and food! The menu provides a very wide variety of dishes. My husband swears by their tacos (hard shell) with rice & beans. The taco shells are made to order, are light and crisp, not overly greasy filled with deliciously seasoned ground beef, lettuce and cheese. The rice is amazing and the beans are good cooked and made to the perfect consistency, just so good! I most times order the soup, they offer Menudo daily but it's not a soup that I prefer so I usually choose the Albondigas, and most recently I've tried the Chicken and Rice, SO YUM! They are so different from each other that I can say that they're both my most favorite soup on the planet! The Albondigas is very flavorful, not overly salted, and has plenty of meatballs and veggies in it, most notably it is always served hot. The small sized bowl will fill you up but get the large if you want to have it for lunch the next day. The Chicken and Rice makes any other bowl of chicken and rice soup envious because Mexico Cafe makes theirs with shredded chicken breast and plenty of well cooked yet firm rice. It is not overly salted and flavorful, it's very delicious. I mostly prefer their chicken and steak fajitas with rice, beans, and corn tortillas. They are my most favorite, specifically at the Mexico Cafe! Their fajitas come to your table sizzling on a smaller iron skillet plate-ish thing, sorry I don't know what they are called! I did not take photos as I normally do, but presentation is very pleasing to the eyes and was devoured rather quickly because we were very hungry! All I can say is that I can't ever eat everything that is on my plate but the leftovers are even better the next day! The prices are reasonable for the quality and the quantity you're getting. You can't get bad food or service here but you should try the Mexico Cafe, come see for yourself just how good they are! We cannot find a place this good anywhere near us in Torrance,...
Read moreCalled in to order at 7:11 pm , on 10/15/2024 taco Tuesday for 8 hard shell tacos 4 shredded beef , 4 chicken. My little sister went in to grab the food, bout time she came back out to give me the food to check the tacos they where cold and soft , mind you when ordered the tacos she told me to arrive within 15 to 20 min and I arrived in 12 min. I go back in to Mexicos Cafe to inform them that these tacos where cold and soft weren’t even a hard shell the young lady waited about 5 minutes to find her manager when the manager came she immediately said I will just go ahead and cancel the transaction I said no don’t cancel it I just want it made fresh and hot she said owell no I am going to cancel it this food is going to waste and I have to throw it in the trash as she preceded with an attitude and canceling the ordered I told her that food deserved to go in the trash , will you take this cold food home to your family , as she kept saying she did not care , she did not care not even trying to feel the food nor hear a customer out that has been coming here since her sister was the owner , now this is a disappointment and I left hungry. Her work ethic and attitude is poor . Mexico’s cafe is going down the hill tremendously with there quality and quantity of food they are giving out . The manager is completely rude and honestly I wanted to cry to make some feel as if they where lying or to make someone feel as if the food you are serving you have no care for is scary and honestly this was my go to restaurant and this experience has showed me now and honestly I can not deal! I hope she grows into liking her job at this establishment or it will go under and god does not like ugly but the way you serve your customers and especially the loyal ones matters. Poor representation for the company , manager did not accommodate me in no for or fashion no situational apathy , no patience, corrupted service, careless of Work ,harmful help ,mediocre ,brush off, miserable job slap, Dash Work epic fail bad at her job weak service, unsatisfactory service. All over cold food that I am paying for that I am eating . She did not care and with her attitude she should not run a place of business like she needs to find a...
Read moreGoodness. Ok. It's Valentine's Day, why wouldn't there be more servers? We got there at 230pm. Our waiter brought the beers and like 10 min later the limes. That's not good. He was nice & thoughtful, however I wish he would have automatically came to clean up during our meals. I hate trying to eat with left over empty bottles or dirty appetizer plates all over the table. We were a group of 6. That gets crowded on a table. We had to be there ones asking him to clean up. He did check up on us but I think could have been a little more. We told him we're celebrating a birthday & you know once you start ordering shots that's going to call for more beers. I'm a Mexican mom who loves to cook authentic food so I'm a little pickier when it comes to restaurant food.
Salsa was delicious, along with the chips. We ordered the sirloin steak & my husband wasn't to fond of it. We ordered the baby a chicken enchilada plate & the enchilada was delicious. The cheese on the beans is what didn't sit right. It seems like they let it sit to long under the heat lamp, it turns stiff. Rice was good. That's also what happened to the giant tray of nachos. Not worth it. The cheese was stiff on top not soft. The chips were some burnt. It was literally a stack of chips with cheese. Here and there you can see some black olives, tomatoes & chives. I don't remember what else it came with. We ordered the chicken taquitos dorados, they were good. The avocado sauce on top was to plain though. They ordered the carne asada plate, that meat was good. I can't remember the rest. They ordered the Adios & ugh. We're drinkers but it had so much liquor at the bottom that it wasn't enjoyable. The long island had it all at the top that as soon as they brought them to the table you can smell the tequila. We're always down for extra but goodness, it needs to e mixed well with the rest of the mix to taste good.
And my last complaint:,WHERES THE MUSIC!!😄 we're Mexican & love to eat with some music in the air. We sat outside, which is a great area with heaters, but it was so silent when we went talking....
