Except for the server, who was friendly and helpful and did her job well, I don't know how this place gets such good reviews. I had to meet someone in San Clemente, and we chose this place based on its location and the great reviews. I didn't mind that it was clearly old; in fact initially it looked kind of charming. However, lots of negatives added up during the visit, not the least of which was the outrageous cost for sub-par food. The booths were clearly worn down and low from old age, the tables were uneven, the bathroom was charmingly located around the corner, which I didn't mind, but it definitely should have been cleaner. The food was served very quickly but it just wasn't very good. Potatoes looked good but tasted watery; eggs Benedict had overcooked eggs and hollandaise sauce that tasted like watery cheese. Cheese? The English muffins were nicely toasted, though. My partner's waffle was okay, but the eggs and bacon that came with it were not the greatest and the amount left the plate looking lonely. Maple syrup for the waffle was not real syrup. I would have been okay with all of this as a kind of run-down diner experience, except for the price. This very sub-par breakfast for two cost $50. That is an outrageous price for what we received. I strongly suggest you skip the S.C. Cafe until they either dramatically raise their standards or lower their prices. I honestly don't know how they stay...
Read moreWe were in town for an overnight trip and we're looking for a great spot for a good breakfast. We did some searching on Google and found this place and said that it had some good reviews. We decided to give it a shot and the second I saw it and we walked in I knew it was my kind of place. Cozy, quaint, good energy and definitely felt like a good surf spot cafe. The staff was all smiles when we walked in and they came around and told my wife that they liked her coat. They have a lot to choose from in terms of breakfast but I stuck to standard Bacon, eggs, pancakes, hash browns and I got a side of biscuits and gravy. My wife got an omelet and it was gigantic! The food was great and the service was fantastic and we never needed anything because they were right there on top of it. We got some sincere "thank you for coming in" wishes on our way out and it's definitely a place that we would stop again when we go back to San Clemente. They have fresh tortillas and fresh salsa too by the way which is a nice added bonus! I was hoping they had some flavored creamers for the coffee, but that's not a big enough issue for me to complain about it. Overall, everything was great and we...
Read moreSC Café is a delightful find in San Clemente, offering a charming escape from the bustling Del Mar strip. The local vibe of the place immediately won us over, making it a refreshing change of pace. One of the highlights is the dog-friendly patio, which makes it an ideal spot for pet owners.
The food was fantastic! I enjoyed a delicious omelette paired with perfectly crispy potatoes. My husband opted for the tuna melt, which came with fries that were just the right level of crispiness. We also had a side of fresh fruit that truly lived up to its name – fresh and flavorful.
The service was excellent, contributing to our thoroughly enjoyable experience. SC Café has definitely earned a spot on our list of go-to places, and we’re looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended for anyone seeking great food in a relaxed,...
