OMG, OMG, OMG 😇 😲 😲 WOW! No exaggerating, no kidding, my first time here and I'm blown away. 🤪 Crazy Good 🤪 I was out Saturday ridding my 23 Phantom, heading south on the coast road. I was actually heading to a different place I've been wanting to try. I was so hungry I was about to chew my own arm off, when it hit me, this aroma of teriyaki chicken cooking on a grill, ahh mann I had to have it. I had to make two U-turns ( you know the coast road, No crossing the double solid yellow lines) to get back to "Super Bowl Express" And I am here to tell you it was Well worth the effort. The staff is real friendly, you're met with a hello and a welcome as you walk into this little Mom & Pop restaurant. The restaurant is very clean and their is indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is very extensive for the size of the restaurant 😋 and the portions are very generous, and prices very reasonable 😀 this is a Good Meal & Value establishment 😉 I had the teriyaki chicken bowl (first item on thier popular item menu) it was cooked fresh, and served on a perfect sized bed of white rice with a mountain of grilled teriyaki chicken on top 😋 then instead of drowning the chicken in teriyaki sauce, the staff lets you choose how much sauce to add, same goes for the green onions and sesame seeds. 😋 along with a medium fountain drink. ALL for less than $15.00 bucks. I ate every last bite except for about five kernels of rice, that I got tired of chasing around the bottom of the bowl 😜 it was sooo good😋😋😋 Now let me be completely honest and forthcoming, this is really a very nice hidden gem and they've been in business for 31 years so you know they have to doing "It Right" they are a small mom & pop shop, the owners are doing the cooking putting in the love first hand, and cook everything fresh, so be prepared to wait a couple of minutes for your order 😀 but it is worth the wait 😉 if you only have limited time, they do offer and recommend that you phone your order in advance 😀 but if you're not in a hurry stop in have a sit down, and try this place, I can't wait till next time I come back, maybe this coming weekend. 😉 Enjoy 😊 Tell them Smokey Fred sent you...
Read moreThis place has been around for probably 30 years, and is a staple in the local San Clemente community. It’s been under new ownership since COVID, but the food remains freshly made and delicious.
I will warn you, parking is sparse and shared with the coffee shop next door. The place is easy to spot but if you’re heading south and crossing traffic, be prepared to wait.
Inside, there’s a big menu with plenty of options and pictures of the options on the wall. As the name suggests, you can get various teriyaki rice bowls and other options, like spam musubi, which was just made and displayed on the counter.
I typically order chicken or beef teriyaki bowls. Both are delicious. The meat is tender and flavorful. The sauce, green onions and topping really enhance the flavor. Overall, portions are decent and there’s a fair amount of meat for the price.
The owner clearly takes pride in the business, and assured me the food was freshly cooked from his kitchen to me. Thanks for keeping this...
Read moreJust sayin the food is incredible and immaculate and delicious is an understatement Sweet . The meat is incredibly soft and tender, and has quite a depth of flavor, You feel It, it really hits every point on the pallet. There is fattiness, char from the flat top, herbaceous notes, sweetness and tang from the teriyaki. Their homemade teriyaki sauce is a magic trick. I just moved to San Clemente and I am obsessed with flavor and this did not disappoint, the hospitality is incredible, but it feels like you have been a local forever just in the know…. I can’t even ask for anything better. They make their own amazing hot sauce and their peanut sauce, please don’t sleep on that, is delicious. The meat is so tender; the beef, the chicken, everything is so fresh delicious…out of this world. I walked in at 11. The phones were getting slammed. People are walking in non stop. Best discovery ever! I will be back again and...
