I dropped by the shop on Sunday 7/24/16 with a list in hand after researching several boards of interest. As soon as I walked through the door, I was greeted warmly. One of the employees in the shop asked if I needed help, and he listened while I told him of the boards that interested me. The first board on my list was close at hand, and it looked like a contender. After looking around at a few other boards that had piqued my curiosity, another shop employee spoke with me, and gave very helpful suggestions - he shared my interest in the same board, and recommended that it might be a good one for me. After some back and forth about the fins that were necessary to complete the board, I was offered a deal on a set of fins. While I completed the transaction with the nice woman working the register, the guy who helped seal the deal installed the fins on my new (used) board. To complete the deal, I was given a couple bars of wax and some stickers, and then encouraged to go enjoy my new ride. This was my first time doing business with USEDSURF, and my first impression was favorable. A friendly crew in an organized shop, with a wide selection of boards (both new and used), fins, leashes, traction, etc. For anyone looking for a board in the San Clemente area, I recommend giving USEDSURF a chance to earn...
Read moreI have been shopping at USEDSURF since shortly after they opened, it must have been about 15-20 years ago or so.... I remember when I first walked into UsedSurf and it was like, whoa, heaven on earth but with more wax fumes. Boards everywhere. Itâs like if Leonard Nemoy and Bob Marley opened a pawn shop together.
I told the guy, âI need something that makes me look like I know what Iâm doing, but also like⌠totally chill if I donât.â Boomânext thing I know, Iâm walking out with a used shortboard that still had some other dudeâs good karma on it and a sweet nose cone. Saved me enough cash for extra pedros AND a tank of gas for the ol creeper san-o van.
The best part? I have been selling my old shred sleds there for years. No more Facebook Flea Market for this bad chicken. Mark the wife and kids safe again!
Service? Badical. Vibe? Super mellow mixed with side show circus energy. They didnât even flinch when I asked if the board came with free pizza (it didnât, but like, they should think about that).
If youâre looking for a surf shop where you donât have to sell your kidney to ride waves, UsedSurf is the spot. Just donât buy the last 6â2â with the lightning bolt on...
Read moreI went into used surf with intentions of buying a old long board for as little as possible intending on using probably ever. Well after talking to the gentleman there I ended investing in a board a little above my skill level and paid a bit more then I wanted to but I ended up having a sick set up. Best decision/purchase I have ever made. Surfing has entirely changed my life and I get out on this thing everyday. From struggling to paddle right to catching waves this board has kept me motivated and excited to surf just about everyday. These guys give great advice and will you set up at a great cost point. Edit: I picked up a Channel Islands Chancho 7â funboard. Super cruisy and crazy...
