If you read my reviews you know I don't like to give low stars. I even waited about 6 hours to write this review to get some balance. I found it. Cox still gets 2 stars.
We are doing a primary account holder switch from me to my ex. (We're pals, it's good). I spent a little over 2 hours setting things up with an amazing rep named Angel. I needed to pull my cable box and take it in, then switch in a new box. All the documentation was there. I had the PIN. I was ready.
The woman at the local Cox store in San Clemente would only say "It has to be the primary account holder" over and over. She wouldn't look. She wouldn't check. All that work to get ready wasted. Two hours of being on the phone wasted.
Tonight no phone, no TV and no wifi because of a lazy, do the minimum, "I don't have to listen" clerk.
The techs on the phone are always good, the clerks in the store are ... different. Not very friendly, and I always feel like serving me is an interruption to their day.
I'm glad to be done with Cox. TV transmission has become bad, with constant freezing, no sound and channels that are unavailable.
Goodbye, Cox. 35 years with you and this is the end?...

Cox is by far the worst internet provider I’ve ever dealt with. They overcharged me by over $250 and ignored multiple emails. After days of trying, I finally reached someone by phone who assured me the issue would be resolved. Instead, my next bill increased further, completely disregarding the adjustment they had confirmed.
To make matters worse, they canceled my service at 9 PM on a Sunday – a clear bad faith tactic to force customers into paying fraudulent charges, knowing full well no representatives are available at that hour. Why not shut off service at 9 AM on a Monday to give customers a fair chance to resolve issues?
If you’re considering Cox, do yourself a favor and check Reddit or FCC complaints – there are thousands. Unfortunately, Cox holds a monopoly here in San Clemente, where despite the area’s affluence, the infrastructure for fiber internet is still not available. Cox’s service quality is far worse than what’s available in the majority of developing countries.

They refuse to send out a tech to climb the telephone pole and change the port. Everyone they send out just wants to swap out a few cables and splitters and then run away as soon as they are done. Within hours of their visit, my internet goes offline and my modem starts rebooting automatically. Their service sucks and I am about to drop them and get AT&T service at half the price. Then I will take them to small claims court and get my money back for lousy substandard service. The only reason I gave them 1 star is because I can't post this review with zero stars.
