I have loved this place for a very long time! It's been years that I have been going to Beaumont's, but I took a little break from Yelp. Today, I decided to catch up on some long overdue reviews.
My husband and I used to go to brunch here a lot. The truth is, it's not very close to where we live and we got spoiled, being able to walk to some great places near us. We have suffered from the same thing other San Diegans typically experience...staying in our little neighborhood bubble. Plus, with the pandemic going on, we have not eaten out much in over a year.
We love this place so much, we almost had our rehearsal dinner here, way back when we got married (2007). The only reason we decided against it was because it's a little small for large gatherings and not the easiest to get to, for those not familiar with San Diego.
We did have our post-wedding brunch here and it was extra-special because it also landed on Mother's Day that year! Our guests (and moms) really enjoyed their meals and the staff was super nice and attentive.
I love the classic Coast Toast! It's a staple on the brunch menu and is a custard-style French Toast. Thier world famous french toast, similar to a souffle, extra rich with a hint of orange. So delicious! They have great shareable plates, like the Kung Pao Mushrooms, brown beech mushrooms, baby bells, crispy tofu, crushed peanuts, sweet chili glaze! The chips and guac are a must too. The most recent visit was great too. We had family visiting and took them for lunch. My husband ordered the Keep It Clean with salmon, wild rice pilaf, green beans, squash, mushrooms, arugula pesto, grilled lemon. He cleaned his plate! He ordered the Love Buzz cocktail with Old Harbor gin, canton ginger liquor, lemon, honey, buzz button flower...which was the entertainment during our meal! The bartender kindly offered up a few extra buzz button flowers for each of us to try. The kids even tried them! It was a very interesting and unique experience!
There is a new, over-sized outdoor patio out front and plenty of other outdoor seating. You can make a reservation on Open Table, to cut down on the wait time. We got in right away, even though we had made a reservation for a...
Read moreI will preface this with the fact that I NEVER leave reviews but honestly I have never had an experience like the one I just had. Place was very nice, front of the house was very friendly. Food came out before our Bloody Mary and coffee - no big deal. Bloody Mary was alright, nothing special. The real terrible part of this experience came at the food. My breakfast burrito was good, however something in there was extremely chewy - come to find out it was A LONG PIECE OF PLASTIC (I have some photos of it). It’s pretty insane that the kitchen didn’t see a piece of plastic that large in the food they are making. Who knows how much I swallowed. The part that really made me mad was getting charged for this burrito - what restaurant wouldn’t comp the plastic burrito. I did get another one made, but that is not what I wanted nor asked for. Why would I want double down on plastic burritos? End of the day, I think that situation could have been handled far better. I loved our server, but I think she could have taken the burrito off the bill. Don’t take this as a bash to the restaurant itself, all in all the place was solid: nice atmosphere and friendly staff. I just probably wont be dining there again because of my...
Read moreI visited Beaumont's Eatery in 2014, and unfortunately, my experience was mediocre. We were greeted and seated immediately, which was great, and they do have a kid-friendly menu, which is a plus. However, when another customer came in and sat next to our table 10 minutes after us, the waitress went to their table first to take their order instead of ours. It took a total of 15 minutes for us to finally give our order, and the place wasn't busy at the time.
Furthermore, the staff seemed reluctant to provide substitutions when asked. The waitress gave a blank look as if not knowing what to do. After a few moments of figuring out what to do, she asked what I would like to substitute for. I asked what I was able to substitute, and she gave me a blank stare again. After a few moments, she said, "Whatever you want to substitute," which wasn't helpful. I had to go through the whole menu to figure out what I could substitute, and the whole process was frustrating.
I hope that in 2023, Beaumont's Eatery will have improved its service and be more accommodating in providing substitutions...
