I don't understand why this place had such bad reviews. Look down at those comments - Nobody didn't say which plates or what kind of food that they got. I work here for 5 years and Hithai is the place that I go eat with my friends almost everyday. Pork Chop is the best. Panag curry sandwich is the best too. Also, Thai Tom Yum Noodle Soup and Egg Noodle BBQ pork are my favorite ones. What are you complaining about the price or service? These are only 5 bucks dishes and togo order only. Do not say anything if you have just ordered Pad Thai with your limited knowledgeable about Thai food and you didn't like it. This place has so much things that delicious and healthy. If expect to get great atmosphere why don't just go to La Jolla- Garnet st or Pearl St there are lot of Thai food restaurants there and you'll end up spend $30-50/person. Pad Thai dishes there, average prices are $9-$12. I'll vote this place for 5 stars for their delicious food and friendly service - Stan- He is the great manager and his staffs are...
Read moreI've been here in La Jolla for almost 7 years as a graduate student and now I'm a post-doc. Hi Thai is located close to my building. It's so convenient to go get lunch/dinner at Hi Thai. First of all, I'm Thai (My family owns a Thai restaurant in Thailand, I know how good Thai food should be!). Second, I understand that it's a campus food (basically for UCSD students and staff)! Due to reasonable prices, hot foods service, and friendly people at Hi Thai, I gave them 5/5!!! My favorites are Thai Boat Noodles, Siamese Noodles, BBQ Pork Noodles, Pork Chop (you can ask them to remove bone for you!). Don't listen to any campus tour guys who never try this place but keep telling you that it's not recommended. Hi Thai...best food on campus!!!
PS: It's true that some items are not authentic, but not bad to try. As you know, even american food, you have so many recipe/protocols to cook...
Read moreI honestly only ever eat Chicken Pad Thai when it comes to Thai food and honestly this place doesn’t do it too poorly. The chicken can be a hit or miss. I’ve had the driest nastiest chicken breast sometimes, but then i’ll go and it’ll be some really decent chicken thigh.
I also have to say that I like how spacious the interior is and the proximity to the restrooms. You can get there, wait a little until a table is free and then just drop your stuff off while you wash your hands and settle in. I go to the General Store before coming here and get all my drinks there (1$ Arizonas).
Overall, it’s a solid place. Definitely not DAYGOEATSCERTIFIED✅ but I can say that I approve and if you want Thai food in a pinch here on campus, this is not a bad contender.
I also would ask for no green onion (Idk why I didn’t like it at...
