I took myself to celebrate my birthday. I got up Sunday morning and called the public transport travel guide number to plan a trip to the theater. I wanted to see the play at a matinee showing (I don't like being out after dark). I heard the box office offers reduced tickets to seniors for seats left empty 60 minutes before showtime! I purchased a seat for $45. It was 3rd row and middle seat (due to a season ticket holder's impromptu cancelation). The day was perfect, and the staff was very welcoming. The show was entertaining, and the public transport was seamless to get me there and back before nightfall. It doesn't get much better than this for a celebration of 76 trips around the sun! ✔️💯🔥✝️😁

La Jolla Playhouse is a hub that always promises unique performances, by extremely talented and creative artists. Located in the heart of UCSD and surrounded by a forest of Eucalyptus, its location already delivers a first magical approach. Then, their talent for selections: each play, as different from one another, offers a show that’ll feed your greed for a memorable spectacle, from the mise en scène to the content itself. I’m confident in saying that if I chose any show to randomly attend, I’d be mind blown and satisfied. It’s comfortable yet intimacy by the house being so close to the stage offers a furthermore unique approach to the play. A -must attend!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! wowWowWOW! - Somehow I'd forgotten the immense value that storytelling before a live audience offers. It was wonderful to be whisked away to a different place & time to imagine the experiences of others, to consider the reality of the less obvious aspects of the social dynamics that influenced the choices and lives of well-known people. Fantastic all around - kudos to the entirety of the cast & crew, production team, the playwrite and other creators as well as the venue itself (including easy breezy parking just down the hill, complete with shuttle service!)

Can I let you in on a lil secret? Are you unfamiliar with the La Jolla playhouse? Always wanted to see a Broadway caliber show? But have notions you'd have to travel to LA or even NYC to see one? Well lucky you my friend, The La Jolla playhouse maybe one of the finest theaters on the West coast period. I know that's Saying A lot. Do yourself a favor enjoy a night out & support one of America's finest theaters right here in America's finest city! I recently saw The Outsiders there, =my wife and i were completely blOwn away. Top to bottom WAS INCREDIBLE. THE WRITING, SINGING, (YES THE CLASSIC BY S.E. HINTO N IS NOW A MUSICAL)THE ACTING, THE CHOREOGRAPHY, THE LIGHTING... ALL were EXTRAORDINARY! The lighting Was just top notch I mean like next level. We are fortunate enough to have this little gem of a theater IN our backyard. The closest thing to Broadway You're likely to find west of the Mississippi. If youre on the fence just go, go enjoy a night obut take someone you love. Dine At One of La Jolla's many great restaurants, then go enjoy a performance that will leave you in awe and youre supporting the arts too. SEE THE OUTSIDERS. To all that were involved in bringing it to the stage thank you & Bravo La Jolla...

We just attended the third performance of the world premiere of “Heart” at the LJP. The 24 hours in the death and life that accompanies the tragic loss of a beloved 19 year old San Diego surfer son who suffers fatal injuries in a car crash coming home after catching some waves at Tourmaline Beach one morning. Followed by the new chance for life his death brings to a 50 year old mom who’s life is almost lost after waiting 3 years for a heart transplant donor. No dry eyes for this theater goer when the boy’s estranged parents struggle with the loss of their son and the decision to donate his organs and when the moment arrives for the heart transplant and the donor boy and the donee mom meet and interact with one another. Thought provoking and very realistic. As usual for the La Jolla Playhouse this musical is very well produced and technically flawless. Choreographed by the same woman who choreographed the Eras Tour. Very well paced and acted - the 80 minute performance with no intermission flew by. We saw the the third performance of this original world premiere which was so well written and well rehearsed it could have been the 300th performance! Two 👍👍thumbs up … way up!! A perfect date night with my perfect...

Came for The Outsiders with my wife as returning patrons. The theater has single-level theatee seating, which we sat towards the back next to the aisle; there are no center aisles. The seats were very comfortable with a lot of leg room. Didn't have to stand and be awkward to let people pass through. The bathroom was clean, and had a average number of toilets. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Parking is off-site, but a shuttle is provided between the theater and the parking garage before and after the show. We would come back for more shows.

October 2023 update - Came for Sumo show in the Weiss Forum Theater. It's a small theater with one entrance into the theater that is up a ramp. The seats are a little narrow and have some cushion; barely comfortable. Aisle rows are a little narrow as well; had to stand to allow people to get to their seat down the row. A bar was setup on site with alcohol, non-alcoholic and snacks. Staff is friendly and welcoming as always. I'll continue...
