I stood in line behind 2 other customers. "Hello, Sir, how are you today?" was the greeting for the first one. "Hello, sir, getting BBQ for your 4th of July?" was the greeting for the second, followed by an enthusiastic, "Thank you! Have a great day!" after he ordered and paid. When I got up to the counter, the temperature completely dropped. "Can I help you?" was the greeting. I'm not sure why I wasn't afforded such niceties, but I powered on, asking about whether they had 2-meat plates with sides, or any 4th of July specials. "No, everything is à la carte" was the deadpan reply. Hate women much? I paid, and took the number for my order, which was followed by a lukewarm "Thanks" from the cashier.
For 4 ribs, two sides, no drink, no cornbread, and no dessert, it totaled a little over $25, which is pretty pricey for a one-person lunch at a dive. Now, I don't mind paying that if the food is worth it, but it's not. The ribs were tough, and not tender at all. The mac 'n cheese had goldfish crackers crumbled on top. Who does that? Answer: someone who can't cook. It was bland, and tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. The corn was oily, and had, dare I say, some sort of runoff or leakage that came out when I shared some with my son.
If you want tasteless, hillbilly BBQ served with a side of misogyny, this is the place for...
Read moreI'm gonna give these guys a 5! Not only are they super friendly and family owned but the food is good!! I love their happy hour they start it a little early going from 2-6 and they have great sliders and half sandwich side combos. They also have 4$ drafts and a lot of craft beer choices. I love their pulled pork and brisket and I can't decide which I prefer! I also love their pulled pork HH fries those rock and their sides are great too! You will ALWAYS get amazing service here and by far they have the best BBQ I've tried in San Diego. I've been to Texas, Memphis and all through the south with the specific intent to try BBQ and this place isn't too bad for a west coast joint! I love coming here it's always under 30$ during HH for my bf and I and we enjoy every experience we've had! They also allow dogs on the patio and host Humane Society Adoption Events once a month. I highly recommend them to anyone who loves BBQ and one of these times I wanna try their ribs!! I heard they cut two bones of meat to every beef rib so both sides of each bone are covered giving you really two ribs per beef rib! One of the former employees is a client of mine and she gives me the inside scoop and secrets on my fav BBQ place in San Diego! Try them out and I promise you won't be...
Read moreI found hair in my food and when I called and spoke with margret to get a refund for my food she had no problem until I got to the establishment and she immediately became agitated as if it was me who served this to myself. She acted as if I was wrong for asking for my money back, gave me attitude, and I wasn’t going to do a review because I try to not hurt anyone’s business but when I received an attitude for having food in my hair it’s in the best interest to inform customers that if you complain about hair in your food that you expect to be safe and then they get an attitude because you want your money back we have a problem. Also their rice is under cooked, the macaroni and cheese has cheeze its in and on top of it, the meat is bland and unseasoned and i recommend Cali comfort where you can get the best peach cobbler in Cali or wood ranch bbq those are quality bbq restaurants and you will not find hair and it is delicious and safe and they do not give customers attitudes because they carelessly dropped hair on your food and got mad like it’s ok. Do not recommend. If you want good bbq Cali comfort or wood ranch they are polite and...
